Any idea about Draftkings UK? It's late october, NBA season has started, no news yet. Any risk they're going to back out?

Why would they? They've supposedly got a UK gaming license so the only hold up is getting their software and procedures up to whatever standard their gaming regulators demand.

I think there is a small bit of dislike for dfs among people who have played season long baseball (some of it is understandable) It's a way different version of the sport. Of course if daily goes away high stakes season long leagues go away too...

Is it? Maybe NFL opener became late october well into NFL season, late october now becomes December on Oct 30. Am I silly for fearing December will become February on Dec 30?

You are silly for having any "fear" about the availability of DK in the UK. First, there are probably decent sportsbooks already licensed and operating in the UK.

Second, how deep do you think the liquidity will be for US sports when DK does launch in the UK ? (It may be deeper than you would think, but I have attended Super Bowl parties each of the last several years in London .... the NFL is a non-story there on the biggest day of its season....)

Third, there are already DFS sites for other sports in Europe.

Finally, I know the guy likely running DK for Europe, he is a smart, capable ROW marketing pro. The launch will be done when the product is ready for that market.

with fangraphs I think the issue is they all consider themselves baseball elite because they use advanced metrics and think they are so knowledgeable about the game

so they try DFS, get destroyed, and think it must be fixed in some way

Dk isn't launching in Europe for us sports. Soccer has a super high ceiling for liquidity now with the scoring and format changes.

DK's CEO stated that UK players would be integrated to the US playing pool.

Sportsbook? Sure, I can do sports betting, not sure what your point is.

What other DFS sites? Mondogoal does only soccer and their tournaments look fairly small. Fanaments are not available in the UK yet (even when they are, not much liquidity either).

Dk will likely want to wait for boxing day so they can offer a massive soccer slate to kick things off.

Reading through both threads I didn't see much if any "rigged" talk. The prevailing thought seemed to be that DFS baseball can't be beat because picking top performers is all luck on any given day, which is of course ridiculous. It's exactly the kind of thing I'd expect to see on RG (along with the rigged stuff) not Fangraphs.

MLB and the players union tried this with CDM 10+ years ago, MLB lost.

Unless they cut a deal with the NFLPA he may actually have a case considering the commercials openly use faces and names during the roster construction parts.

Stats aren't protectable, but a player's likeness definitely is.

I am not so sure you will see integration like that any time soon, however much liquidity might be better.

There is no reason why any UK sportsbook cannot offer DFS or, better yet, DFS-graded betting.

If you are pinning your hopes on pooling between US and ROW players, and playing US sports, I think you will be disappointed.

As for a December launch, I have no f**king idea, I do not work for DK. I just know it won't be likely to launch until the product is ready. Your "US pooling" comment however raises the possibility that DK is waiting for that state of affairs .... in which instance the wait will be long.
