I see people talking about moving on twitter. They might want to wait a week, or at least until Mon.

Illinois already was and has some online wagering/gaming/money laws in place that might already conflict with DFS. (Some sites block Illinois well before all of this stuff.)

They are also broke and cannot pay their own lottery. Lottery winners in Illinois get IOUs for prizes over $600

lol @ "tearing families apart"

nevada was already #1 in unemployment, violent crime, car theft, divorce, robberies and foreclosures before dfs

think the casinos already took care of that. the casinos don't want competition in tearing families apart

i see it pretty much everyday. in fact right now there's a guy behind me who got his paycheck and is filling out about 50 parlay cards because according to him "he needs to hit it big or he's in trouble"

and he's telling everyone who will listen about it

and he will lose and disappear and someone will replace him tomorrow with the same story.

in ~10 years here i see the same thing daily. same story different person

''Unless more states follow, we are going to see more corruption and families torn apart because of unregulated, illegal gambling.”

How does this animal stand his own stink. How about all the people who go broke after being plied with free booze and ''other'' enticements or the families torn apart by Nevada's legal regulated gambling. Can he s**k Shelly A's c**k any harder.

I thought they were on some list, but not any of the big sites afaik. Anyways, the big picture issue isn't so much if they do or don't ban it (and I'm guessing they DO! and soon) The issue is how fast this is getting totally out of control.

Because, he calls it "wagering" instead.

Actually Walt B., the interviewer, is a pretty good print journalist who likely researched various FD statements beforehand, like the article where the FD CEO says they never use the word "bet".

That tactic won't work under PASPA, only Nevada can regulate actual sportsbetting.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profes...on_Act_of_1992

"The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (Pub.L. 102–559), also known as the "Bradley Act," attempts to define the legal status of sports betting throughout the United States. This act effectively outlawed sports betting nationwide, excluding a few states.

The sports lotteries conducted in Oregon, Delaware, and Montana were exempt, as well as the licensed sports pools in Nevada. In addition, Congress provided a one-year window of opportunity from the effective date of PASPA (January 1, 1993) for states which operated licensed casino gaming for the previous ten-year period to pass laws permitting sports wagering. The latter exception was clearly crafted with New Jersey in mind. However, New Jersey failed to take advantage of this opportunity and carve out an exception for itself. Also excluded from the reach of PASPA are jai alai and parimutuel horse and dog racing."

The Third Circuit has granted a rehearing to New Jersey on its attempt to authorize sportsbetting, blocked by injunctive relief obtained below by the NFL and other Leagues. The outcome could affect authorization of DFS under the PASPA. .

Stay tuned.

"what this industry needs is regulation."

...as the regulators move in to squash dfs to protect the established interests.

regulation might seem like a good idea at first, but over time it will be taken over to benefit the regulated industries at the expense of the consumer.

As soon as the articles started and the AG investigation was announced I realized just how wrong the 'DFS legal and American companies' > 'poker illegal and foreign' nonsense was. The witch hunt took 5 years to ban stars, less than 2 weeks for DFS in some states, because they are forced to actually follow these corrupt and/or idiotic laws.

Yep, Here's a slightly over the top post I made on RG about FD hiring a lobbyist, YESTERDAY!

I’m no expert on when and if a company should be looking for a lobbyist, but it seems like if I were running a business that looks A LOT like illegal businesses (ol poker, ol sports betting) I’d probably be looking to someone on K street before valuation hits a billion, and before we run more ads than McDonalds, and certainly before the building was on fire and under constant attack from the goddamn NYT. but like I said, I’m no expert.
