Re: DFS Industry Discussion Thread

I'm just waiting for a DFS scandal involving college DFS players. I'm shocked you can actually gamble on individual college players. Morally it seems super shady to gamble on non professional athletes. You'd think there'd be grounds for some sort of lawsuit with FD/DK using college player's names without their permission.

Re: DFS Industry Discussion Thread

So apparently multiple players playing on the same account is okay. Seems like another disaster waiting to happen .

There are some well documented players that are partners which would intuitively suggest they share one account. Like that guy who won the millionaire maker with his brother if I recall correctly, or rayofhope who admittedly works with a partner under one account. Sincerely not trying to take shots at ppl but this seems like murky water and potentially more fodder for the media to crucify dfs.

i thought it was obvious they just banned one person playing multiple accounts. its well known some accounts are multiple people and I dont think it matters unless they are also contributing to other accounts

Re: DFS Industry Discussion Thread

It's not like poker.. not like some hyper aggro high stakes guy using some mid stakes sng grinders account to play cash.

my accounts have always been the same entity.

plus we play by the terms of the site, draftkings has requested it just be one of us.. so the account is in my name and i'm the only one to use it. cory could be playing on his own account in addition but we don't do that because that seems actually sketchy.

Re: DFS Industry Discussion Thread

So basically as long as both players do not already have accounts they can play under a single account.

I'm personally unsure of how I feel about it, but just seems like another thing that could be used against dfs industry.

Re: DFS Industry Discussion Thread

Dont know how you read it that way. DraftKings has requested that it jus tbe one user per account. We cooperate with that. Cory has his own account but just doesn't use it. I am the only one to log in to my DK account.

FD did not request that we do that so it could be either of us actually clicking the buttons there (not that it matters at all), but we'd comply if they did make such a request.

Some of the highest profile players are very openly playing on the same account. But like, I don't see what the potential "angle" is here. It's not like online poker where a crusher can buy a deep tournament run to max out ICM with real-time decision making. On the other hand, multi-accounting--kind of the opposite of what we are talking about--would be bad, and I'm sure it's happening, and I have no faith in the sites to police it.

Re: DFS Industry Discussion Thread

I agree that multiple people on one acct likely has no distinguishable angle, but in trying to look at it in terms of how the media could use something like that to show dfs in a negative light.

Yeah I guess I agree with this. We already know how their game works, feeding off the fears and suspicions of idiots to sensationalize something that, although way out of bounds from an ethics and fairness standpoint, had a relatively minor impact on game results. The real irony here is that the #optics are probably improved without account sharing teams, and the fish might feel safer but are actually worse off when those same guys just double their action by using all of the accounts they are allowed to have. It reminds me of the NVG threads where people praise Bovada for banning huds and attribute it to the far better game quality. And yet, the grinders still have functioning huds.

not sure why it would matter how many people are decision making behind a single account.

Yep, this is the anti-angle. The angle that is actually going on is these big teams sucking up tons of volume, with the same lineup, circumventing entry limits and disguising themselves behind different screen names.

Re: DFS Industry Discussion Thread

I've also combined money with friends and chased GPPs. Where we each have input on lineups. I've read TOS plenty of times and no where is that prohibited.

I've made sure only I log into account, and only I have user name and pw.

Obv no one gonna care bc I've never binked more than 2k in a gpp before, but if I crushed - this would be a problem?

I've been told in the Legislation forum that you are supposed to issue a 1099 to your partner for the amount you paid him and then just report your actual net profit when you go to file (i.e. 50% of the total partnership profit). It's pretty much the same scenario as staking in poker tournaments where the casino issues you W-2's and you pay your staker back 50% and issue him a 1099 at the end of the year for the total amount of the payments you made to him.

Dude thinks Kcannon has a script that takes his NHL games. Other people corroborate for NHL and CFB. Games get taken before their lobby even reloads. Kcannon comes in thread and says that he only takes 1 game per player and never scoops all of someone's action, doesn't address scripting. Uproar ensues, everyone assumes he's guilty of scripting since he didn't address it. Comes back in thread and admits to having a FD-approved tool to auto-enter games. Everyone waiting for FD response.

I'm almost positive that when all this script stuff came up that people weren't supposed to be allowed to auto enter ANY games.

What's new is he admitted it:

I was using a tool approved my FD. I have stopped using it till I hear back further from FD. Until then, keep burning me at the stake.

I think FD left themselves a loophole. Their TOS reads:

Quote:
As a condition of use, you promise not to use the Services for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms, or any other purpose not reasonably intended by FanDuel. By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree not to:

use any robot, spider, scraper, sniping software or other automated means to access the Service for any purpose (except for RSS feed access) without our express written permission.
Earlier in the TOS they say:

Quote:
FanDuel, in its sole discretion, may disqualify you from a contest or the entire Service, refuse to award fantasy points or prizes and require the return of any prizes, or suspend or terminate your account if you engage in conduct FanDuel deems, in its sole discretion, to be improper, unfair or otherwise adverse to the operation of the Service or in any way detrimental to other users. Improper conduct includes, but is not limited to: falsifying personal information required to use the Service or claim a prize; violating any of these rules, accumulating points or prizes through unauthorized methods such as automated scripts or other automated means;
OUTSIDE of the TOS, in a thread on RG they stated:

Quote:
We will generally grant permission to enter contests via automation, except for selective entry against specific opponents (for example, scooping head to head contests against inexperienced opponents).
