ha...this author on Forbes totally botched what the RG cofounder Cal posted

He wrote that Cal said it was possible for Ethan to use the lineup info on Fanduel.

Cal never said that. The opposite actually. He said it wasn't possible if Ethan was given the data after FDs lineup lock.

I think its more the fact that access to those numbers in daily MLB games where there is no such "ownership report" would be a huge advantage, and his fanduel earnings seem to reflect that

Is one greedy geek going to kill the golden goose? Do we know how many L/Us he entered? Does it matter?

I've been refreshing the thread at RG and those crooks are deleting legitimate posts almost as fast people can make them. It's somewhat amusing but an absolute shame they are considered an industry leader.

Yeah also this. I didn't even realize he was crushing MLB before it was recently pointed out. But imo the original point still stands: "Numbers that are usually pretty close to the actual ones are available to everyone" in no way diminishes the impropriety of insiders obtaining the actual numbers.

Lol DraftKings - why even allow this idiot access to those numbers?? What as company do you gain.

No one who is allowed to play DFS should have access to them, ever.

Odds DK or Fanduel give top players on their sites access to this type of insider info??

What would happen if the NFL, NBa, and major networks cut ties with the sites?

The people that run DK and the other sites need to get their head out of the sand pronto and start doing some strict self-regulation, and I don't mean just making vague pronouncements. You'd think they would have learned from some of the mistakes made with online poker, given the similarity of the industries.

The real issue as I see it isn't some huge edge to be carved out by knowing for sure the player you figured would be around 25% is actually 23.8%, big deal. I mean it's kinda cheating, but really I don't care. But if you can see that Julio is 23.8% in the milly, can you also see ray or dink's h2h LU? Because that is something, something huge, potripper revisited. And even if site employees end up banned from playing other sites, it doesn't matter, these guys have the frat boy network in place, and we all know just how many of these top players refuse to let a quarter go by, got to get it while the getting's good, right brahs? High five algo firing max entries into "rake the field in Cleveland" and quarter tournies beer pong solid bros popped collar good for the industry beer pong

They all profit greatly from it so they wouldn't want to. It has a huge impact on viewership for the leagues and is the biggest advertiser on the networks.

That said these idiots have probably sealed their own fate by not being 100% above board. And the leagues and networks will have no other choice than to distance themselves because the DFS industry is showing it cannot be trusted. They need to make drastic and transparent changes or the golden goose dies.

Thinking about everything now in hindsight, it's pretty scary. There's millions of dollars going into these unregulated sites every week. DK and FD get their cut and I imagine they hardly care who ends up winning the rest. If you're an employee there and know that they only care about their bottom line, why not help one of your friends be the one who takes home those massive prizes? All it takes is one contest to get someone a life changing amount of money so it could easily go under the radar.

so there is another issue here i'd like to know. i dont think its a huge advantage to have ownership info, it is an advantage, just not massive. what i'd like to know if pre lock people can see who condia, max, loves etc have in their LUs. that would be a huge advantage.

"Late Monday, the two companies temporarily banned their employees from playing games or in tournaments at any other site."

Is this confirmed? Does this mean DK pros can no longer play on FD?
DFS Industry Discussion Thread Quote

I've seen zero confirmation that that's actually true. Also may only be limited to employees with certain access or something as opposed to the DK pros. Who knows.

Seems pretty unlikely to me that the DK Sunday ownership would have a higher correlation to the FD Sun ownership than the FD Thurs ownership would due to roster/scoring/pricing differences. To me this entire thing is overblown. Especially in the NYT article when they are trying to imply that the reason he won is because he had these numbers when the effect it has is so minimal especially because as Joe said the Thurs numbers are already essentially publicly available.

Are you ok with insiders viewing the actual %s?

Jfc...did this really blow up because a guy tried to publish a "playbook" for nerds to jerkoff to the percentages of their 1pm players owned.

Is that really what happened?

Obviously I'm making light of the whole situation...but goddamn.

that would have been a mild issue. him winning 350k the same day doesn't help the optics

I mean it's obviously a massive coincidence that he happened to win 350k the same weekend, but it makes you look at his results in recent months. been winning truck loads of money on FD. I have no idea if he's gaining unfair advantages or not, but the results are there.
