I'm completely out on Engram and Kmet this season. I have a few best ball shares stacked with Trevor/Fields, but that's it. Both offenses added high target earning #1 receivers.

Engram was TE7 by average last season, but if you remove his massive week 14, he would have been TE17 by average.

Kmet had a nice two week stretch in weeks 9 and 10, but that's because he caught 2 TDs in each game. Kmet played at least 83% of the snaps in every game last season and still scored single digits in 12/17 games.

On Underdog, Engram currently going as TE8 and Kmet TE16. They are both better real life value players than fantasy players.

I'd rather take Everett TE17, LaPorta TE18, Juwan TE21, Henry TE26. It looks like Ferguson TE23 and Musgrave TE25 could both have starting roles as rookies too. I also like Schultz TE13 and Higbee TE14.

For managed redraft, I'll be Kelce, Andrews, Hock, Waller, or Pitts or punting to the guys I listed above. I don't really want Goedert or Kittle either. I like Kincaid, but he's still pretty expensive at TE11.

I think you're using the wrong metrics though from a guy who was in his first year on a new team.

What I want in a TE are targets. Just give me all the targets. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/mos...t-ends-in-2022

He's now in year 2 on the team, one more training camp in (which does make a huge difference). One year more on Lawrence's development, and I think we all agree Lawrence could take a huge leap this year. Press Taylor loves the mismatches Engram creates, which is why they gave him that new deal.

So I'm not going out of my way to reach for Engram. But there's a spot where if he falls I gotta snap him.
Engram's thing is just health. And *maybe* it really was misfortune early in his career, specially since he's not a blocking TE.

Yeah, but targets are my concern with the addition of Ridley. Engram will likely have a few nice games, but the inconsistency is going to be annoying. I'll just take the inconsistency from the cheaper TEs later.

I mentioned Higbee, Schultz, and Everett who were all in the same target range as Engram and are multiple rounds cheaper. Even Muth and Njoku are a round cheaper.

I'm pretty bullish on Trevor, but the Jags were already top 10 in passing rate. He may become more efficient, but he already completed 66% of his passes while throwing for 4,100 yards with a 25/8 TD/Int ratio. I think the improvement comes in the way of better decisions and maybe more TDs, but it's more likely the Jags are just a better team with Trevor needing to do less in 4th quarters. Better team and better play does not necessarily translate to more fantasy scoring; especially in that division and drawing the NFCS. But they do have some shootout potential with the Bills, 9ers, Bengals, Browns and Ravens. Should have decent weather in the fantasy playoffs too with two games in the Florida and week 17 in Carolina.

What do we think of the RB situation now that Zeke and Cook have signed? Seems like there is a clear top 7 and then it gets dicey.

CMC
Ekeler
Bijan
Chubb
Barkley
Pollard
Henry

JT is going to be a full fade for me. The talk around his ankle injury just doesn't sound good, especially combined with the contract situation.

I think Jacobs will be out there week 1, but I have concerns for him milking injuries later in the season, especially once the Raiders are out of it.

Zeke likely caps Mondre's ceiling of being top 5, but I still expect Mondre to be a low end-RB1, so I didn't really move him down. I view it as more Zeke > Strong/Harris/Montgomery.

Gibbs is a great talent and received high draft capital, but Monty will be involved. Gibbs also has goal line concerns.

Breece is the tough one. I haven't really moved him down much, and kind of like with Zeke, I view it as more Cook > Carter/Izzy/Knight, especially from a real life football perspective. Breece may start a little slow, but him reaching 70%+ of the snaps by the end of the year would not surprise me at all. He is really ****ing good.

I'm kind of holding on my priors of Zeke and Cook being multiple steps behind what they used to be.

Najee is an inefficient plodder on a likely average offense who is looking to be splitting with Warren.

Etienne is the potential league winner, imo. Maybe Mixon too, but Mixon always seems to underperform expectation and efficiency. However, hard to ignore his offense, and from a fantasy point expectation, he was top 5 last season.

And then you get into the potential dead zone group with Jones, Walker, Mattison, Sanders, Pierce, etc. I'd rather gamble on Conner, James Cook, White, Kamara, Khalil, Penny, etc. later on.

Yup I think the Dalvin news hurts Breece more than Zeke hurts Mondre.

And yup I generally agree that Zeke + Dalvin steal the majority of the backups’ snaps. Still would draft both Mondre + Breece in the 3rd, just less excited now (though maybe not early 3rd - if Tee Higgins for instance is in early 3rd I’m probably taking Tee).

Can I DM someone a strat question? A few people from my league monitor this and I'd rather not post publicly if I can avoid it. Thanks!

Assuming it's not in relation to a league I'm in with you then sure

Basically agree, but I think Taylor at current ADP is value and would scoop him in the 3rd where he’s falling if I didn’t grab rb in 1 or 2, unless some absolute stud wr drops to the 3rd.

I like gambling on Kamara, Monty, Javonte at current ADPs as well

The only dead zone rb that I like is Walker. Think he has league winning upside still and you can get him in rd5, which is kinda insane. I’m worried about Charbonnet of course, but it’s hard to get studs in rd5 imo.

Like Etienne at ADP as well, but prefer wr where he’s being drafted

I dont mind offering an opinion if you send a DM. Have only played in Precepts playoff league here and do not know anybody here IRL.

Is Purdy kind of underrated in all formats? I know these guys rarely work out, but they must really see something. Got him in dynasty for next to nothing and felt pretty good about that.

.5 PPR must keep exactly 11 players each year for free, keep player for as long as you want; 12 team

qb/2rb/3wr/2flex/te

my keepers:
hurts
barkley, aaron jones, javonte, alexandre mattison
AJB, garrett wilson, st-brown, godwin, diontae johnson
hockenson

I traded diontae, a mattison, james conner for josh jacobs (but I could only keep 2 of these 3). So basically I'm subbing out the 2 best of diontae/mattison/conner for jacobs & njoku. Thoughts?

My hot take this year is that Purdy will be a bust and won't keep up the form he had at the end of last year.

This is coming from a guy that's investing in Jordan Love in dynasty so take it with the smallest pinch.

Massive over sell on your part imo would rather have Diontae over Njoku and feel the potential of Mattison and Connor out ways Jacobs as I feel it's unlikely he can out produce last season or keep to the same level

I explained it poorly, but I owned mattison, conner, diontae & njou. However, I could only keep 2 of those 4 guys so essentially I traded away mattison, conner and diontae and got jacobs and that also opened me up to keeping njoku (or Godgers).

You have a monster team for 12 team league and packaging guys you can't keep for better players is a crafty veteran move

Undrafted or late drafted stud QBs from the last 30 years is a 2 man list. I have my doubts we ever see another undrafted HOF QB

C. Ridley climbing up the boards.

Taylor gonna get dealt soon (we think).

No friggin clue how to rank TEs in the 10-20 range.

C'mon people, let's discuss!

Also - rafiki: Can we get some THIS OR THAT going !?

Would anyone ever consider keeping a defense in a keeper league? My buddy and I are taking over a team in a keeper league. Due to the rules and lengths of time you can keep guys we don't have great options. We have 2 for sure but for the 3rd option we are deciding between Tyler Lockett in the 8th or Dallas in the 15th. It is full ppr if that matters. Looking at last years draft, 15 defenses went by the 15th round last season. My buddy says we should keep Dallas as our 3rd keeper. I don't know what to think

Lockett for an 8 seems better than Dallas as a 15

It is tyler lockett and it isn't close. I don't care if this is a 8 or 16 team league.

I would start thinking about how life would be without this co-manager in my life. You need to keep a close eye on anyone who wants to keep a defense or K in keeper league when there are other options. They are prone to poor decisions and sooner or later you are going to get caught in the crossfire of their poor decisions.

Hey guys, I am a complete newb to best ball drafts. I am considering trying them for the first time ever this year. I think it would be a good way to get some practice drafts in at low stakes, to help me prepare for the upcoming drafts for re-draft leagues.

My question is what website do you guys think has the softest competition? I'd prefer to draft against casuals as opposed to guys the super die hards. Right now the places I can do best ball, off the top of my head, would be Yahoo, Draft Kings and Underdog Fantasy. Yahoo is where I have done all of my fantasy leagues in the past, and I've briefly tested out ESPN, so those would be more familiar for me.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Locket's non-keeper ADP is a mid-6th (PPR). That's a week 1 starter for plenty of fantasy teams. Easy decision here.

I'd maybe consider entertaining the possibility of keeping Justin Tucker for a 15th instead of, I dunno, a bunch of the TEs below the ~TE7-TE8 range at a 1-2 round ADP discount. But Tucker is special, and the only kicker to show that year-to-year consistency in the top 3. That'd mean the rest of my roster sucks though. No way I'd keep a defense.

I've done zero best ball this year, but my understanding is you'll see tougher competition on Underdog (not necessarily sharks, just a lot of folks following ADP and doing familiar & expected stacking) and more casuals/recs on Yahoo.
