Just curious how common this is with fantasy managers, but is does anyone else get burnt out following the NFL and playing fantasy?

I have gone pretty hard this year with fantasy as it's my first year doing best ball and I drafted over 300 teams at an investment of over $4,000. I currently manage 9 teams, where it looks like 4 should get into the playoffs. As we wind up week 11, this was the first week where I did not watch most of the action. I have had a few seasons where sadly, I watched every single game, and that is something I'm not too proud of.

At this point in the season, my attention is drifting a bit, to the point that watching the games isn't such a priority and has the same desire as if was week 1 of the season. I'm content to browse the box scores and listen to some podcasts to recap the action, and what players I should be targetting. Maybe it is all the time and all those hours drafting teams that has me over saturated and a bit burnt out.

I've previously compared playing a season of fantasy football to a poker tournament, in that a fantasy season can feel like a poker tournament that just drags on too long.

Just curious if anyone else is feeling some burn out from the season, or is everyone fully engaged on a weekly, if not daily basis?

Used to be fun to be all into it like that but seems like you hit diminishing returns pretty quickly. So much random stuff and Arthur Smiths happen that it seems like the slight edge gained from all the hours can be wiped out pretty quickly.
Drafting is still fun af though

Ya man I can agree 100% that drafting teams is the funnest part of fantasy for me. Managing too many teams during the season can get too hectic, and I've missed making certain moves before.

As far as other sides of fantasy that I've tried, I know I'm not a DFS guy at all. It is a very shark filled game, and it also takes alot of time that I'm not willing to put in.

I was also betting props for the past few weeks using this tool called a Prop Sniper, but that didn't give me a big edge like I was expecting, so I cut back on that recently. Less betting on games/props means I have less interest in the games. Still an NFL fan though as it is my favourite team sport, but ya I can only take so much I guess.

I’ve been playing for 20+ years and still love it and don’t feel burnt out at all, but I also only have 3 teams. I could see 9 teams being overwhelming. Maybe try cutting down to 2-4 leagues that are most important to you next year. I don’t do any random yahoo leagues, all 3 leagues are people I know personally (HS friends, college friends etc)

I definitely look forward to the end of week 17 each season, as it is a 4 month grind. But I still enjoy it for the full season, assuming I make at least one championship. The thing I hate the most are waivers, but I've counteracted that a bit by 5/8 of my active leagues being dynasty leagues. I have 3 redraft leagues, and I will never add more than that.

I also consolidate down as the season goes on. Only 4/8 my leagues do I have a realistic chance to win the ship, so I have been focusing more on those leagues these past few weeks.

Drafting is also my favorite part, so I expect to go heavy on best ball again next year. I did around 200 teams this year across 17 different contests. Hoping I advance a couple of teams to the finals, but it's very difficult haha. I also spent the first half of draft season learning how to build, so some of my early teams are not very good. I will spend a lot more time focusing on team structure and less on players next year.

I like the smaller contests to give me a better chance. I think I read that if you max enter (150 teams) Best Ball Mania every year, your EV is to have one team in the finals every 10 years, which is insane. This contest had 667k entrants this season. The championship round is only 441 teams. And even then, the min cash is $1k for a $25 buy in. All of the playoff money is up top. I entered 9 teams, and the top 2 of each 12 man draft advance. I have one first place team that's advancing, then 3 teams in 3rd, 2 teams in 4th, 2 teams in 5th, and then one team drawing dead in 9th. There are also regular season prizes to the top 10k teams.

DFS is way too sharp for me to want to spend the time trying to figure it out. Even the UnderDog Battle Royale snake drafts, which aren't as solved as regular budget DFS, require some insane run good to win. With that said, the lineup that won the DK milly yesterday is getting roasted lol. Sometimes you just run good.

Thinking there is a chance for Jamison Williams to be fantasy relevant this year.

I was *forced* to start him this week in a 12 team league with Olave on bye and JJ still enjoying watching more than playing. My team is 4-6 and just about dead and since I had Goff figured might as well go for the Hail Mary stack.

31.4 from Ridley, 12.4 from Jamo, 7.2 from Cooks = sweet, sweet victory!

Fml. Lost by 3…

Scored 3rd most pts, lost again. 3-8

I’d have a 60% win % if I played every team every week. Fantasy football is brutal

I lost by 2.4 with Rice in PPR. Just needed one more catch but Mahomes is throwing to guys who can’t catch when the ball hits them in the hands! I actually traded Rice away during the two-minute warning (trade deadline was game end). Couldn’t stand watching all the throws into the end zone when he wasn’t on the field as MVS, Moore and Watson played over him.

Speaking of trades, Monday was the saddest day of the year -- the trade deadline. But I think I made both of my teams worse in trades this season.

Both leagues are PPR, minimal QB scoring, no K/DST.

Team 1

This could be the best team I drafted in 29 years of playing fantasy football. This is only a 10-team league but you start 4 flex, which thins things out.

As drafted ...
QB Dak
RB Etienne, Gibbs
WR AJB, Amon
Flex Swift, Pittman, Dell, Flowers
TE Engram
Bench: Mattison, Sanders

After making 9 of the 10 league trades ...
QB Fields
RB CMC, Ekeler
WR Waddle, Pittman
Flex Bijan, Nico, Flowers, Reed
TE Engram
Bench: Howell, Cooks, Watson, JSN, Jameson, E Mitchell

Team 2

12 teams

As drafted ...
QB Allen
RB CMC, Javonte
WR Olave, Hop
Flex BrRob, London
TE Higbee
Bench: Zeke, Rondale Moore

After making 7 of the 13 league trades ...
QB Dobbs
RB Pollard, Monty
WR Hollywood, Hop
Flex Javonte, Higgins
TE Hock
Bench: Russ, Watson, Pierce, Noah, Guyton

This team really looks worse everywhere other than TE. But I was forced to scramble after I lost five in a row following a 3-0 start. I had most of my draft through W8 and then sold out to win the past three weeks. At the deadline, I sold BrRob and Gus because of their upcoming byes.

I'm the 6th seed in both leagues. No one is within a game of me in the first one and I have all my key players other than Fields past bye, so I'm confident I'll make the playoffs. Second team is still in a more precarious situation. There's two teams with a chance to pass me. I'm facing the top seed this week and he's favored by 10. In W12, I face the 7th place team with same record who will be at full strength while I'm without Hock and Dobbs. W14 I'll face the team I just traded BrRob to try to give me the advantage.

Going for 3peat in 2p2 dynasty league. I'm only 7-4 but a game out of the bye. I didn't score 100 this past week, lol.

First trade to dig out of Black Thursday is complete:

Give Andrews and Goedart

get

Hockenson and Mostert

Now I gotta dig out of the Burrow injury (that game was awful for me). Roster in ppr 3wr

Dak (Purdy, Burrow-IR)
CMC
Etienne
Jefferson
Chase (ugh)
Kupp (ugh)
Hockenson
Brian Robinson

Bench:

Ekeler (you mother****)
Hopkins
Mostert
Gibson
Noah Brown
Robert Woods
Dowdle
Gallup
Guyton
Otten
Musgrave
49ers/Texans

Decided to just swing for the fences on trading because when in your life do you drop 3 straight rings on 2p2 friends and rub the money on your titties? Stay tuned...

How are Jefferson owners feeling for this week? Mixed words make me worried they just sit him until after their bye next week, and with them playing late it's hard to pivot

I think you do the whole waiting for back to back full practices thing and then sit him if he's limited.

Yeah I looked and the only MNF pivot that is even remotely usable in my league is Mooney. Gonna pass on that waiting game and just use a combination of Brandin Cooks and prayer

FantasyPros 'experts' that have updated in the last 24 hours have him ranked WR9 and ESPN fantasy predicts him for 0.0 this week so pretty safe bet that nobody knows nuttin

Have two trade offers on the table:

Non ppr start 2RB/2wr/flex. I give rhamondre Stevenson, and get puka

Most trade charts have them ranked close. Leaning towards accepting bc I need wr help. Currently have Henry, kyren, Stevenson and Najee at rb and wrs are tank dell, Lockett, higgins, josh downs. So I would basically start puka and Najee instead of Stevenson and Lockett

Second trade is 6 man keeper, ppr. Start 2 rb/3wr/flex

I give pollard and davante adams for AJB

I have a stacked and deep team where I think this trade makes sense for me. Current rb/wrs are:
Rb: CMC, pollard, kyren Williams, ford, singletary
Wr: st.brown, Adams, tank dell, Hopkins, Demario Douglas, Palmer
Te: hock, McBride

So I upgrade from Adams to AJB and have several options to replace pollard at flex (Hopkins, McBride, singletary, ford etc) I also prob couldn’t keep both polllard or Adams so it strengthens my keepers for next year
