Hey guys, just curious about best ball and the correlation between drafting a WR and RB on the same team. Does anyone know what he overall effect is?

One one hand there could be a negative correlation where the RB or WR is getting the bulk of yardage and TDs, capping your upside. But there is also the case where one players production is helping the team keep drives going, allowing both to produce points. I'm just not sure if drafting the RB and WR from the same team is a big mistake, small mistake or negligable.

I had a case where I got St Brown and the made a sub-optimal move to avoid D Montgomery and drafted J Addison instead. In another draft, I had gotten Aaron Jones, and then later drafter Watson without realizing. Drake London could have been taken there instead. I'm just not sure what to think of these moves. Thanks.

I had one draft in a ten man league where Burrow, Herbert and Lawrence all went in round 5 and 6 and none of them were left late in round 6. I got Richardson, Love and Stroud as my QBs lol. Needless to say that was the toughest draft I've done and I can only hope those guys can get some rushing yards, lol.

I just did some late night reading and learned about skill position stacks. So ya, I'll give that a try going forward lol.

Also on an interesting draft note, I came across a strange draft situation that affected the whole draft. A guy at the 10 spot took Hurts and Mahomes there. It definitely helped to make premium QBs even more scarce. It was really confusing when it first happened, because I didn't know how to react. Do I continue with my picks as normal, or do I reach for a QB now since there is one less premium one available. Looks like everyone took their QBs a bit earlier after that happened.

In that situation I'd probably patch QB somewhat and just load up in the WR's and RB's that will fall.

If Burrow, Fields or Herbert were there for me in the 5th I'd grab them but wouldn't look to reach

Ya I think that building your roster as normal is the way to go. As far as reaching for QBs, it seems like the first three QBs after Hurts/Mahomes had some reaching with Allen going 2.6 (normally rd round) Jackson going 3.1 (normal 4th round) and Burrow going 4.3 (normally 5th round). After that there was a lull where things went back to normal Fields going 6.2, Herbert 6.4 and Lawrence 6.8.

I don't get it, what was the logic for making this change after two decades? Guys were complaining about having trouble filling the QB slot in a 10 man league??

I would be shocked if ANY team actually plays with no QB at any point during the year and there is 0% chance somebody wins your league without a QB

Did zero research this year for our one big live draft. Haven't been really into football and life has been busy. Kind of like my team lol. I wanted a stack this year, was hoping for Mahomes in the 4th with Kelce as my keeper but when he went was happy to pair Ridley (who I know I reached for but I like the unknown mega upside) with Lawrence: 12-team 0.5 ppr keeper league. Picked in the 10th spot, reverse snake. Kelce was my keeper in the 3rd.

QB - Trevor Lawrence (5)
RB - Bijon Robinson (1)
RB - Antonio Gibson (6)
WR - Calvin Ridley (2)
WR - DeAndre Hopkins (4)
TE - Travis Kelce (3 -KEEPER)
FLX - Kadarius Toney WR (9)
FLX - Nico Collins WR (11)
D/ST - Ravens (15)
---

RB Tyler Algiers (10)
RB Devin Singletary (12)
RB Zack Moss (13)
RB Zamir White (14)
RB Keontay Ingram (15)
RB Kareem Hunt (17)

Zero research really did me in in the later rounds so mostly took keeper flyers I'll cut this week

It was two QB for the past three years and we all generally liked that better than single QB. But then last year it devolved into people hoarding QBs with injuries, guys having 5 on the bench. The finals QBs were Mahomes and Wentz against Pickett and Colt McCoy or something like that, and one of the teams could potentially have forced the other to play essentially a blank spot.

So this was supposed to prevent that circumstance. I guess you at least have a chance if everyone dies.

I think the best mix is one QB and one SF, but I can see two SF.

I will never play 2QB, for some of the reasons you listed, plus it’s just not a fun format, imo. SF spot is the best of both worlds.

Tlaw in 5 and Gibson in 6 is awful. Starting Nico collins and Toney is pretty terrible in 12 tm imo. 13,14,15,17 is bad. Allgiers in 10 is bad

Up until rd 5 it looks pretty solid although I’m sure I would’ve taken a different receiver than Ridley in 2. He’s got upside so it can’t be that bad

Fml. Can’t believe I messed that up.

Michael Pittman in the 7th and Jaylen Warren in the 8th. I’ll start Pittman over Collins obv

Very fair and do appreciate the feed back. I did forget to include Pittman at 7 and Warren at 8 for some reason.

I really wanted a stack with either Kelce or Ridley. There was a run on QBs and Lawrence was the last one in that 2nd tier imo. Gibson yea idk. It was him or Robinson. I guess Robinson is the better commanders play?

Gibson vs Robinson is a toss up imo. Neither should be taken in RD 6 though. Theyre like mid-late R7, preferably rd 8 players

Yeh this I can see 2SF being fine but not preferred but as someone that loves patching QB's I hate the idea of a 2QB format

In a keeper league where the following two years you can keep a player in the same round he was drafted the previous year who are you targeting in this year's draft. (.5 PPR and 12 team)

Without many pre-season injuries there aren't many coming to mind. I am leaning towards kyler murray with the idea that he may have a change of scenery by next year. Anyone else?

Well, Taylor was 1.1 last year and may drop to 4th round. Actually have no idea where he will go but surely many owners will be scared off by contract squabble + PUP. Upside being he may actually still be useful this year in a couple months

All the rookie WRs tbh + Dotson probably

Breece

TLaw and Richardson at qb possibly.

Maybe Lamar and Andrews (big fan of the ravens this year) as smaller values

Big Mike

The time span of your correlation matters - over a full season you’re likely going to have slight negative correlation between the RB+WR on same team, but for best ball tournaments the correlation you probably care about most is a single game (or, weeks 16-17) where you’re hoping for positive correlation in the event that the entire offense performs really well.

I feel like Irsay hates Taylor enough to keep him off the field the entire year out of spite

Think JT will come back week 12 or something to be able to have this year count as an eligible year, otherwise hes in same spot next year

Have a long post coming later based on my #7/12 redraft spot, which lends itself hugely to zero RB (sadly). I haven't tried zero RB in maybe 7 years (because it sucks), so curious what you guys do in this spot (which arises from a start like Kelce/Adams).

1) If you know by round 3 that you're very clearly going zero RB, do you have to get a top 8 QB? Like that tier that ends at Trevor Lawrence kind of thing? Or is it just the opposite and you have to pillage the middle round RBs and try to Cousins/Goff (you get the idea) late to make due?

2) Who else do guys like in zero RB? I got Pacheco, Mattison, Javonte (and get Perine too), Dobbins if he falls, Akers, James Conner

Then I'm trying to snatch A LOT of guys in RBBC's on good offences. Part of why I'm thinking of delaying QB.

3) Where do you guys think good value for Kamara is? He tends to go in the 6th. Contemplated getting Jamal Williams as part of the zero RB plan, maybe in the 9th. Which again keeps pushing that QB further out.

Really wish I was picking 5th over 7th!

I think Kamara in the 6th is a great example of a 0 RB target - potential RB1 upside if things go his way even missing 3 games. Williams does not have near the upside - he is a plodder that has only one 1k season and 1 double digit TD season no chance in hell he finishes as an RB1 this year

Kinda disagree with your thought to maybe go 0 RB and 0 QB in the same draft, I would rather get 3WR,TE, and QB in the first 5 rounds THEN load up on RB the next 4 or 5 picks. Montgomery would be a good target for later rounds, but I refuse to ever trust Andy Reid to play whichever KC RB on my team. Guaranteed if Pacheco is on my team then CEH will be KC lead rusher
