I'm finding i hate the value in 3rd round rbs and wrs this year...and ending up with shares of Herbert/Mahomes (which historically i've never done). Anyone have 3rd rd players they really like? (I'm happy with fournette and some keenan allen i guess)

I think it's not a bad plan b. You're getting a positional advantage that you can't get with other skill positions.

I wouldn’t do it, especially when you can get guys like Kyler, Lamar and Hurts in the 5th/6th if you want a high-end QB.

Guys with 3rd/4th round ADP that I’d be happy to take.

Lenny, although he might go late 2nd.
Keenan
AJB
Tee
Pittman
Hall

And I like the guys below, but I’m not super excited about them and would take all of the guys above over them.

Etienne - maybe, kind of want to see him in the preseason
Zeke
DJM
Terry
Diontae
Akers

There is plenty to like in that range.

I did like Evans, but now I’m fading him with Godwin looking like he’ll be back sooner than later plus Julio. Evans has been living on TDs the last two seasons.

This has been my main plan in best ball this year and I'm just waiting for it to get ****ed by injures cause I have so much Hurts and Lamar.

Speaking of best ball I just did this draft that is way out of my usual strategy but I'm kind of excited about it,

QB: Winston, Wilson, Brissett

RB: Gibson, Hunt, R.White,Carter, Davis-Price, Ingram. Pacheco

WR: Kupp, Evans, Allen, Waddle. Johnson, M.Brown, Olave

TE: Hock, Hooper, Rudolph

Now QB is a mess as I missed out on Brady, Staffy and even Tua but I'll take another 30 INT season from Winston if it's like the last one

Or take Trey Lance later on haha.

If some of those RBs hit, that team has a chance.

Speaking of Kupp, how concerned are we for Stafford’s elbow? Need a healthy Stafford to make Kupp’s price worth it.

Not really concerned. Not heard much apart from it seeming like the media is overdoing a minor injury just for an off season talking point.

I'm in a super soft keeper league where the LM seems to change a rule every single year to "spice things up". So this year instead of starting a DEF we are starting 2 DEF (you can hold a max of 3 def on your deep bench) and he changed the scoring so the only way to score/lose pts are as follows:

INT or fumble recovery for a TD: 6
sack: 2
INT or fumble recovery: 4
safety: 4
each point allowed: -1

The top scoring def in this scoring were NE, BUF & DAl who avg. -4 to -5.5 pts a game last year. The def scoring between 10-12 last year were ARI, KC & TEN who average between -9 & -9.5 pts a game. Def ranked between 20 & 22 last year were CHI, PHI & NYG and they avg between -12.5 & -13.5.

It is 10 teams & you start 2QB, 2RB, 2WR, 2flex & 2DEF and our avg team averaged 145 pts/game last year because it is PPR & you get .2 pts per rush on top of yardage bonuses.

My question is should I spend more than $2 on 2 defenses of our $250 budget? Outside of the top 5 defenses (which will probably go for way too much) are we really going to guess which teams will be top 10 vs ranked in the 17-22 range that well?

That sounds really not fun.
What's the penalty for not starting a D? Seems optimal

If you don't start a DEF you get the worst score of any DEF that was played that week.

That's a pretty steep penalty. If he's going to change the rules, he should at least make them cool. I'm guessing you'd leave it wasn't super soft haha.

Since so much of a defense is unpredictable, especially turnovers and TDs, I'd be targeting teams who I think are going to allow low points due to the penalty of having points scored against your defense.

I'd fade all of the AFC West defenses. The NFC West is pretty brutal with LAR, Ari, and SF, but at least you get Sea twice.

The Colts might not be a bad target. Titans, Texans, and Jags all probably going to have bottom half of the league scoring offenses. Unfortunately, they also play the entire AFC West.

Dallas could be a good target. Commanders and Giants twice, AFC South, NFC North, etc. could have some good matchups.

The Bucs could be good too. I don't expect the offenses of Atl, Car or NO to be particularly potent. But their out of division schedule is pretty tough. Cowboys, Packers, Chiefs, Ravens, Rams, Cardinals, 49ers, etc.

I might also focus on run heavy teams who might hold possession and lead to lower chances for the opposition. 49ers, Ravens, Colts, NE, etc. Although, NE is going to have it tougher this year with Buf still very good and Mia and NYJ improving.

Take all of the above with a grain of salt, as I don't play leagues like that. I certainly wouldn't pay up for the predicted "top" defenses.

I'm happily down to only 1/7 leagues having to play a defense.

I don't think there's more than 1 or 2 teams that has better defensive talent than San Francisco. They also start off with two nice games, @Chicago and home vs Seattle. *edit that 2 starting DEF rule is horrible btw.

I appreciate the advice and you all are right that I’d probably leave the league if it wasn’t both my softest league and highest buy-in league. Last year when we started 1 DEF one guy drafted 3 DEF, we start 0 TE yet he drafted 3 TEs and we start 2 RBs and he only drafted 3 (dalvin, Chris carson & Tyson Williams).

On top of that you can keep as many players you want for one season at their previous draft price which I think gives good players a pretty big edge and I have good keepers this year.

Not so humble brag: I also have a title to defend.

Probably just target one good D in the draft in the double digit rounds and then as Tarheels says, just be proactive streaming those AFC east, south, NFC south, east matchups.

Defenses can be fun if you're not in too many leagues.

I'm a bit surprised how many of you take Saquon over Javonte. Their ADP's are literally neck and neck. I just don't think they should be. I'd take the younger healthier legs there every time.

I’ll take the guy with guaranteed usage and league winning upside in a new offense. Joe Judge and Jason Garrett were awful.

There is nothing behind Saquon on the depth chart. He’s guaranteed 75%+ of the snaps.

I think Javonte’s price is around his ceiling. Saquon’s is not.

Guys always look much better in year 2 after an acl than year 1. And Saquon was actually getting back to form last year before the freak ankle sprain.

All of the camp reports for Saquon have been very positive. Meanwhile, Justin Outten is talking about pitch counts for the Denver backs. I still think we are a year away from Javonte having elite upside.

I would not be surprised if 8-9 teams in this league draft 3 DEFs, thus hero can only be streaming from DEF25-DEF32 Lions/Jags/NYJ

Recommendation: draft 2 DEFs (stream for a 3rd for byes) but basically just avoid the bottom tier Lions/Jags/Jets as your 2nd DEF.

I have the 1.06 in an 8 man PPR league. QB/2RB/3WR/TE/Flex and 5 bench spots.

I mainly try to draft BPA and not worry about position too much due to the wire availability.

Assuming JT, CMC, Ekeler, Kupp and JJ are gone, who are you taking?

That’s fair. I’m between Chase, Cook and Henry. I have been leaning Chase.

I suppose I should consider Kelce, but taking him at that price last year simply wasn’t worth it. We need him to be 2020 Kelce, and I think we need that to even justify the pick at 2.03.

My dream start is JJ, Diggs, and then two of Kamara, Barkley, Fournette, and Javonte at 3.06 and 4.03. But I should get at least one of those backs at 3.06, so not worried if I miss on the top backs in the first two rounds, whether it’s two WRs or one + Kelce.
