Players like Cook are tough to value. The owner is generally going to always value him more than a random villain. Because even if you send him to the guy in the running for the championship, with the variance nature of fantasy, there is no guarantee he wins the ship even by adding Cook. I'd take two firsts for him if I wasn't in the running. But maybe you can turn it into young assets that are a little more guaranteed than two random firsts. What does villain's roster look like?
A few weeks ago, I traded Cook away on a team that was borderline playoff and would have needed some run good to ship. It's a 12 team superflex league.
I sent Cook/Mattison/A. Jones/Tua/Brissett/3rd for Mahomes/Etienne/Edmonds/2nd. My side might have been a little heavy, but I was happy to lock up Mahomes for what I expect to be the next 10+ years. I also don't have much faith on Tua's long-term future in the NFL. My other two QBs are Danny Dimes and Darnold, so I was really hurting at QB. I took Mahomes to kind of start it over.
My reward? 3 of Mahomes's worst starts in his career lol.
