How are we ranking the BAL backfield now? Anyone besides tay'son worth owning?

Probably none of them really worth owning until we see what happens, especially with them just signing Latavius. But of course if you don't own them now, someone else will already have them when the depth chart is figured out.

If I had to rank it, I'd probably rank it:

Latavius
Bell
TySon
Freeman

The thing about TySon is that he was at best their 3rd option coming out of camp, and depending on what you believe, he might have even been behind Hill. So it's not like he's some stud.

Whoever comes in and performs the best over these first few weeks will get the starting role. But your guess on who that might be is as good as mine. Could also just end up being a 2 or 3 man RBBC. Of the 3 vets they brought in, I definitely think Freeman is third in the pecking order and simply insurance. And I put Latavius at the top since they were willing to sign him, even after getting Bell and Freeman, but it also could just be another depth play.

Bump - Who should I keep in a 10 team, .5 PPR, valuing the whole season:

N. Fant
Terrace Marshall

At the moment, both are deep on the bench and wouldn't appear until byes. Does the potential of Fant turning into a top TE I can potentially trade outweigh whatever upside that Marshall has?

Yeah agreed. Latavius seems like he has the most in the tank and is the best north to south runner like Gus.

Lamar is primed for a monster season if he doesn't get Covid for the 8th time.

I agree that it's tough. Here's what my gut tells me.

TySon
Latavius
Bell
Cannon
Freeman

But there are a lot of ways it could play out.

Tyson should get the first shot and run with it. Murray will probably be next in line. Can't see Cannon getting much action outside of special teams (although I did just pick him up in dynasty in case there's even more injuries), while the other two are basically useless now

What do you guys think of giving a 1st and Hines for CEH and Boyd in SF PPR dynasty? I found out that non-playoff teams play a consolation bracket to decide the top-six order, so this could end up being an early 1st. But I still expect to make the playoffs.

And how about Hines getting this big payday? Wow.

Yeah on the surface this looks pretty good if we all agree that CEH has feature back potential.

Do we all agree? Lol. I’m not sure CEH is worth even a late 1st in the future. And I’m afraid he and Hines might not be that far off. Hines did outscore CEH by 17 points last season (playing 3 more games). And CEH already is banged up.

I'd say it is pretty close.

This is what makes giving up 1sts for RBs really tough. I’d only do it if I’m in win-now mode and need a stud back to get me over the top or if I really believe in the future of the back I’m getting. CEH is only 22 years old, but he could always have a capped ceiling. Or, he could really turn into a stud on the best offense in the league. So it really just depends on how you value him moving forward. I wish he was a few inches taller.

Hines is decent, but Rivers already had a dud arm and is one of the best QBs at targeting his backs. Will Wentz or future QBs be able to get the ball to Hines like Rivers did last year? I wouldn’t really care about giving him up. Seems pretty lateral from Hines to Boyd, depending on full team makeups.

Mainly just trying to gauge the value of the 1st for CEH. 1st round picks are like gold in SF dynasty.

That's a good point on Rivers loving to target RBs boosting his stats last year. Though this contract does show he is a big part of the Colts' plans going forward. CEH obviously has a higher upside than Hines being on the top offense and having more bellcow potential. But I could also legitimately see him not being the starter next year. For that reason, I don't think I can give a 1st for him. Especially when there's a chance that 1st ends up in the first few pics. I'll see if I can turn his interest in Hines into another deal.

What are you giving up for RBs if not either other RBs or firsts? I don't totally get the statement.

I made this for our dynasty league, it's a visual of hits and busts with all our first rounders since 2013. Top row is all our 1.01's, bottom is all our 1.12's. After 1.03 you're getting porked most of the time.

So imho I don't see who on that KC roster is taking catches and carries from CEH right now. Maybe next year they go full Robinson/Etienne drama, but every back is vulnerable to that.

Usually, you won't draft a player better than CEH. CEH's issue is that people stupidly picked him at the 1.01 and that was a massive overeaction to the landing spot. But most years you won't draft a better RB than him with your pick.

Now can you get someone BETTER than CEH for the same 1st rounder + RB? Now we have a good convo. That's dependent on your league. I personally don't go trying to get CEH. I pay a bit more for someone better.

Is your dynasty league superflex or 1QB?

Speaking of Hines, in other PPR dynasty I’ve been offered him and McKissic for Michael Carter and Freiermuth. This is league where I’m loaded at WR but at RB only have Javonte, Carter and Singletary. So some PPR-centric RBs could make me more competitive. I was looking at Freiermuth to be my No. 2 TE behind Gesicki, and league does have 1.5 PPR for TE.

Anyone like Carter to become better than the solid Hines in PPR?

I like his side a bit better tbh (as in what you'd be sending). Ask for a bit more.

Btw if you're loaded at WR go get a feature back.

Yeah, just like Hines probably benefitted from his QB, I think McKissic did as well. Smith was the king of check downs to the back. Fitz is more of a gunslinger. He’d rather throw it to Terry in triple coverage lol.

Carter could be stuck in a weird committee all year or he could emerge as the lead guy. Who knows? But he has a perceived ceiling.

I dont even know what to do in the league I was stupidly kind of counting on him. My RB situation is a mess.

On an unrelated note, are we holding Michael Thomas in leagues with no IR? I was surprised to see him available in the last round of my final draft (a league I was asked to join at the last second) Now I know why. The team looks like this:

QB- Herbert
WR- Keenan, ARob, D.Johnson, Callaway, Thomas
RB- Saquon, Hunt, Javon Williams, Carter, Latavius, Pollard
TE- Kelce

I certainly wouldn’t cut MT, even though I hate having injured players take up roster space.

MT definitely less attractive in no-IR leagues, you're sitting on him for 8 weeks. Saints could be a dumpster fire by then and not want to rush him back anyways.
