There goes Guice. Another one bites the dust from domestic abuse allegations.

My trade of Aaron Jones and Conner for the pick to take Guice now officially my worst trade ever. At the time, they were both backups and it seemed like a steal. Of course, trading Kittle for Tevin Coleman after Freeman went down rivals it.

I admire the aggressive attitude, but hot damn, you really go for it sometimes haha. Obviously, there is a lot of hindsight happening, but rookie scouting is such a wild card.

That's what makes dynasty so different. If you can find a league that sustains, the dynamics are amazing. It definitely takes a lot of patience along with moves that work out.

Well, I’m the most aggressive trader you’ve ever seen, so there are going to be some clunkers. When I traded away Kittle, it was in his first year as a starter and he was already doing well but really took off right after I traded him. I needed a RB and thought Tevin would kill it the rest of the way now that he was the bellcow for ATL, then get a starting job elsewhere the next season. It was sound thinking, but if I really looked into the players I probably could have told that Kittle is a long-time stud and Tevin can’t carry a full load. What hurts the most is I’m a Niners fan.

Trading A Jones and Conner for 1.08 as it was on the clock to take Guice, I think it was just bad luck. Bell was holding out at the time, but no one thought it would go into the season at that point. It seemed like he’d be behind Bell for years. And Jones was a fifth round pick who hadn’t done anything yet. Both Conner and A Jones seemed like jags while Guice seemed like he could be special. So I can’t blame myself for that one. But it went bad fast with the news coming out about Bell holding out into the season a week or two later, and it has kept going in that direction.

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

Trading in Dynasty is what makes it fun. I've lost as many trades as I've won. Draft picks and youth are overrated imo. Some rookie drafts there's only 1 or 2 prospects I like so most of the picks are pretty worthless to me. That hasn't been the case the last couple years. Last years draft and this years draft were stacked. I don't have enough room for all the players I'm high on.

I know I've said it before but the NFL would benefit from expanding. There is so much talent flooding the league and not enough starting spots for good players.

Yeah, trading is what’s fun about fantasy football in general to me, but too many owners in most leagues I have been in are too trade adverse or don’t have that mindset. If I have doubts about a trade but think it’s fair and makes sense for my team, I always lean toward making the deal to generate action. That’s how I’ve made 23 trades in one league in one season before. But I really can’t think of many trades in this dynasty league that have worked out for me haha. They can’t all be bad since I won the championship last year. But I made the two awful ones above, I also traded Mahomes and 2020 1.12 for Julio last off-season. I still don’t hate that one because the scoring in this league depresses QB values. And I gave away Drake and Shep for AJ Green when Drake was still on Mia. And I traded Kelce and 2019 1.10 for AB. I traded what turned out to be 2020 1.02 plus Parker for TY Hilton and Royce Williams. These are all so bad. How is my team good? I drafted CMC, Tyreek, Mahomes and Kelce in this league. My best trade was definitely Ronald Jones and Brees for Godwin.

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

I got stuck with the 12 spot in my main redraft league. Feel like I have to go RB/RB but it seems so dirty. From a few mocks, I'm looking down the barrel of Reek, Drake, Mixon, Julio, Eckler, Chubb.
I'm always pro WR early and would normally pounce on Reek but come the 3.12 it's the likes of LeVeon (if I'm lucky), Singletary, Fournette, Taylor.
Just seems like the dropoff of RB is huge and I have to hold my nose and go RB/RB in the 1st and 2nd.

any thoughts?

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

I mean, for me its probably Eckler/Julio and wait for a 2nd RB, but nothing wrong if you really want RB/RB.

Fournette at 3.12 doesn't seem like a bad RB2 at all.

Does A. Jones not make it to pick #12?

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

Mixon/Drake would be my ideal start from the 1.12 (unless Sanders or CEH fall).

If Adams is there at 12, I don’t mind taking him and starting RB/WR and then hoping Conner makes it to 3.12

My top 12 would be: CMC, Barkley, Zeke, Kamara, Cook, CEH, Sanders, Thomas, Adams, Henry, Drake, Mixon.

So you 100% get 1 out of that group. Hopefully 2.

If there is only 1 of that group available for you then it does get a little tougher to decide between: Hill, Kelce, Jacobs, Chubb, Ekeler for the 2.01 pick

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

Tbh I think you’ll be surprised and people will take Julio, Hill, Chubb or Hopkins round 1 and leave you 2 good RB options out of Sanders, CEH, Henry, Mixon, Drake. RB/RB definitely my preferred start.

Guess it’s just league dependent though.

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

Agree with Dizzy for the most part, Mixon is not part of any kind of "ideal start" for me, but if you can get two of his top 11, then you'll have done well. If not I prefer Hill to the rest of the bunch and then hope for Conner at the 3/4 turn, otherwise I would just stick with 1 RB for a while and pile up WRs. There are gonna be some stud WRs there for you at 3/4 so picking a low floor, low ceiling guy like Bell or Fournette just because you're worried about filling your RB2 spot is super bad imo. Play to win.

12 spot isn't bad at all this year, so don't be discouraged with that draw.

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

Cool thanks for the feedback guys. Kind of going to just go with my gut and take Reek if he's there as his ceiling is super high and if him, MT and Adams are already gone then a RB I'm comfortable with will be there. Of course this is all before training camp has finished and most likely someone in the top 10 is going to get nicked up but whatever.
Probably I'm just bitter because I haven't had a top 9 pick in this league 3 years running now.

Yeah, assuming PPR, I have Jones above Sanders, Henry, and Mixon. CEH has a higher ceiling but lower floor than Jones, and I wouldn’t fault anyone for taking that risk. But I like taking “sure” things in rounds 1-3.

I’m still not sure how to feel about Drake. Was Mia just that bad of a spot or did he just run hot in the second half of last year?

Reek is definitely in the mix to be WR1, variance be damned.

He avg. 4.7 ypc across 286 total attempts, before last year's MIA stint. Only thing he hasn't done is been given a big workload in any single season. Was there a specific reason for the low workload - only real question.

Unless he can't hold up to the usage and gets into an shared backfield, but I haven't heard anything about other RBs in ARZ (unless someone actually says that Chase Edmonds is getting a role), and they got rid of David Johnson to give him a clear path.

I definitely have him behind A. Jones and Henry, but I think he's good to draft after that if you think he can continue where he left off.

Current ESPN ADP is pick 20 / $36.

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

I think Drake's 6'1" 212 frame would be considered less than ideal for consistently running between the tackles. The dolphins had Jay Ajayi, Damien Williams, and (puke) Kalen Ballage ahead of Drake as the big body guy.

Chase Edmonds is also on the small size at 5'9" 205, and from watching a few games, he's not a thumper.

I thought Eno Benjamin was more of a thumper, but he is only 5'9" 207. 4 inches shorter and only 5 pounds lighter than Drake. After a few weeks, I expect Benjamin to take on a bigger workload.

That said, I still have Drake as my RB8.

Re: 2020 Fantasy Football Thread

Fair thoughts on Drake. One of my main concerns with Kliff is how quickly he cast DJ to the side. DJ probably never fully healed from his injury, as he pretty productive before the injury. Not like they gave up a ton for Drake. If Drake has a bad game or two, does Kliff just move on from him?

The DJ trade was more about the opportunity to get Nuk than to try to get rid of DJ. Every team would have snap accepted that deal, regardless of who was behind DJ.

And as Precept said, Ajayi, Damien, and Ballage were ahead of Drake on the depth chart. Is that just a stupid Dolphins thing where Drake got a raw deal or is Drake just not very good?

That Ari offense certainly lends a lot of opportunity to whomever the back is. The big question is can Drake maintain that role for 16 games? He's certainly a high risk, high reward pick. I had Drake at RB17 in my rankings back in June. I was probably a little low on him then, but I'm still weary to move him into the top 10. Right now he has a 2nd round grade.

Every year there are guys I'm low on due to some bias and sometimes I'm wrong. Maybe Drake is one of those guys. Or maybe not.

You have to go get Edmonds if you want to roll with Drake. If you have both I think you're in a great spot. That backfield was The #2 scoring RB in FF when you take all their starts.

If you don't go after Mahomes, Lamar, or to a lesser extent Kyler then it's wise to wait on QB. Not a big difference between the the rest of them. I don't have a problem drafting Mahomes in the 2nd round myself. If you do though you almost have to go RB in the 1st.
