Yeah, operational knees would certainly be preferable, but I also think the opportunity has been overstated all along. He played less than 50% of the snaps in week one, while Freeman, with a similar lack of other options, maxed out around 60% iirc. Atlanta seems likely to be behind and in catch up mode a lot, so I could see a lot of similar game scripts to week one, where despite his QB throwing for 450 yards, Gurley could only manage 2 receptions for 1 yard. He was similarly terrible in the passing game last year as well.
The touchdown he scored helps to mask some of this, and perhaps people will dismiss some of this as an anomalous game script, so if anyone that drafted him can recover reasonable value, I would advise trying to do so as it may soon be too late to get out. I see him as a low floor, low ceiling option this year, which are the kind of guys I try to avoid the most.
