Re: 2018 Fantasy Football General Thread

10 team. Start 2RB/2WR/1TE/1Flex

We keep 2 at the round they were drafted at (or round 16 for undrafted).

I draft in the 8th spot. Definitely keeping David Johnson for my 1st rounder. Who's my other keeper?

D. Henry for a 10th Rd.
M. Mack for a 16th Rd.
C. Hogan for a 16 Rd.

Thoughts? Henry?

Marlon Mack for me. If you started 3 WR it would be close.

In rankings, Hogan is around Mack and well below Henry. Is it just because of his position so I go into the draft with 1WR/1RB or something else?

Interesting. I almost left him off. Do you think he will be better than Henry? I feel like Henry is ranked higher enough than Mack that the difference between a 10th and a 16th isn't that big. Thoughts?

Henry is a distant 3rd out of this group for me. Not a fan.

Nyheim Hines is not a threat. Mack's basically a starting RB nobody is talking about on an offense that has a chance to turn it around if Luck is even 80% of what he was.

In your format getting a second RB1 (Mack's ceiling) is significantly more valuable than getting a WR1 (Hogan's ceiling).

What's the best way to remove two teams from a league. Straight and to the point? The 2 members being replaced are long time members and one is a true OG. This league was going when i was like 10 years old, my pops got me involved with the league when I was 15.

The 2 owners in question really aren't active, the OG especially and they come together in a package deal. The OG has had a ****ed up back for years and just did some spinal surgery that was a coinflip for survival so I feel a bit bad.

Has to be done though.

I would keep Hogan. If you gamble on Mack as RB2 and are wrong its gonna be a lot harder to recover

You joined this league when you were a kid and now want to kick out 2 of the long standing members years later because why?

Maybe you should just drop this group and move on to league you feel is closer to your skill/commitment level.

Re: 2018 Fantasy Football General Thread

I can keep 7. No ppr. 3 pt pass TD. I can only keep one of ODB/ Kelce due to keeper rules.

QB. Wentz
RB: DJ, Dtake
WR: Beckham, Amari, Gordon
TE: Kelce, Engram.

Those are really my only keepable players. I also have the #2 pick and am planning to take Saquon (Bell, Barkely, Hopkins are top 3 available). My dilemma is if I trade Kelce over Beckham I'd have 3 giants.

What kind of TE would you say is on the same level as Engram? Not comfortable starting 3 guys from that offense. Also of possible would you trade 1 year of ODB for potentially 4 years of Hopkins? What if I had to throw in a sweetener like a 3rd round pick (84 players are kept).

Also I don't love Drake, but feel like I have to keep. I'll be trying to trade him preseason as well.

Forgot to mention. 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE no flex

Are the other 9 members (or ~most) in general agreement with you? Much easier if that's the case. If it's just you who feels that way, then yea, suck it up or move on...

That's what I was thinking. I'm not sold on Alex Collins.

I like Sproles as a “floor” guy if, say, I spent early draft capital on RBs like Gurley and Bell but only have 4 RBs near the end of the draft. Obviously only applicable if your format is PPR, otherwise Sproles is undraftable even in a 20-round format.

I like Dixon for more RB upside, if, say, I started off WR heavy.

I’m indifferent between Dixon and Buck Allen though; I just took Allen in the 18th of a recent MFL10.
In an MFL10, I believe the strategy is to go for ceiling, so I went with Dixon. TBH, I was on the clock shortly after posting, and I didn't see any responses, so I took him before you all let me know.

I'm glad we all agree, though.

I'm keeping Henry. Just because you keep him at your RB2, doesn't mean he needs to stay there. You can draft a Lamar Miller, Mark Ingram, Tevin Coleman, or Tarik Cohen type in the 5th-6th round (or possibly even Marlon Mack).

Re: 2018 Fantasy Football General Thread

I’m going Henry there. Hogan is prolly the safest bet to have some significant production but in a 10 team 2 WR format I think scarcity at RB makes it that much more valuable. Henry has to contend with Lewis now but I think he’s too good not to have a significant role, and I just don’t want a back trying to run behind the Indy OL

Funny how there's gonna be 8 RB's in the top 12 this year, give or take (and maybe 10 in the top 15). Fantasy is so recency based.

Seems like yesterday it was WR/WR/RB in the first 3 rounds

4 yrs of Hopkins>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>1 year of ODB. I would throw in a lot to make this deal happen.

Looks like a solid bunch of keepers.

Do you think the consensus was wrong last year or this year?

Not sure. But I feel like RB receptions in PPR are tilting the balance. Last year:

Le'Veon 85
Kamara 81
McCaffrey 80
Duke J 74
Gurley 64
whole bunch at 58-59

I have no real clue or desire to check historically, but since I've been playing fantasy I can only think of 2 periods like that. Faulk did 80+ and you had Tiki Barber, Levins, Edgerrin James and Warrick Dunn who were all catching a lot of passes. Then I think a few years later there was the couple seasons where LT, Priest Holmes, Barber and a few others were up there.

If these dudes are going to catch this many balls, it's going to be the return of the RB/RB/X strategy for sure.

As someone relatively new to NFL in general, but watching it super hard since we started (so 2011 or so whenever "The League" was on TV and inspired a bunch of friends to run our own fantasy league).

I think this is just a progression of every year being a bit of recency bias. I remember a few years where all the RBs went down hurt, and likewise a few years where just glutton feeding all the WRs (Calvin Johnson being the main one) was just the norm.

Heck, I think second year Aaron Rodgers was the #1 overall pick

EDIT: Second as per FFC, with Brady at 4 and Brees at 8

https://fantasyfootballcalculator.co...-team/all/2012

However, I think the NFL is slowly recognising that the Cowboys strategy with DeMarco Murray (RB is a relatively replaceable position, so get a rookie, give them ALL the carries and then see if they are worth a second contract) means that while the position is being valued less for organisations in term of $$$ vs WRs, it is having an increased value for fantasy players specifically as one player takes the majority of the load vs various RBBC's.

If anything, it is a fun read going back and looking at the old FFC ADPs. Eddie Lacy was the #3 pick three years ago, now isn't even in the league.

A lot of recency bias. However there are positions that are more valuable simply on a supply and demand basis.

WR- saturated
So many great WR right now.

QB - saturated
It's getting fuller by the minute. Tons of options.

RB- limited
There's 8-9 guys here then a significant drop off.

TE- extremely limited
There's 3-5 guys here then it's a wasteland.

It's such a huge advantage getting Gronk/Bell level production out of your TE/RB.

Re: 2018 Fantasy Football General Thread

I thought George Kittle was going to be good last year before the season started. When the 9ers traded for Garoppolo (who I love) I thought it would be great for Kittle.

11 catches for 194 yards and a TD the last 3 weeks. That's 3.3 catches 65 yards and .33 TD's. Prorates out to a season of 52-1040-5. Small sample and he's probably not going to average 17+ ypc but he had a very good rookie season and played banged up for most of it. Add in the impressive 16 redzone targets he got last year and he looks like he has a top 6ish TE ceiling. I mean he could easily have 7 TDs this year.

PFF has him in their top 10 TE

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nin...-george-kittle

It will be interesting how they use him in the preseason when the starters are in. He's a great flyer if you miss out on the top 4 TE.

Bit of a nitpick, but I'd say there's an obvious top 3 at the position and then there's the tier of {Olsen, Engram, Graham, Walker, Rudolph}. I think I can guess who, but it seems like you're a lot higher on 1-2 of these 5 guys than the rest?

Ricky Seals Jones was probably my favorite TE flyer before he had to pee really bad. Tyler Kroft looks to the the TE named Tyler to own this year (no need to draft him in ~16 round drafts; I've got a few shares of him in MFL10s where everyone has to draft 2-3 TEs).

Charles Clay was a good round ~18 flyer last year, but now he's being way overdrafted as TE14-ish. Sure he'll get his 6-7 targets per game, but how valuable will they be...

Yeah overstated how bad it was after TE 5 and forgot about Olsen. It's pretty bad after tier 3 and im not a fan of the guys you mentioned.

It's Gronk/Engram in tier one with Gronk being more proven but a bit of an injury risk.

Tier 2 is Jimmy/Ertz/Kelce/Olsen with all 4 having serious question marks. Is Jimmy/Rodgers going to work? Ertz sharing with Goedert now hurts his TD upside. How is Kelce going to work with Mahomes? Olsen 33.5 years old......these guys do slow down......

Tier 3 Burton/Reed/Kittle/Rudolph/Walker Love Burton and Kittle in this group but they are both unproven. The talent is there but is the usage. Reed is elite when he plays. So you get 1 series to 16 games. Rudolph has a new QB......Walker will turn 34 during the season.

Apologize for typos I'm driving to work when i typed this.

Just take Gronk or Engram in the 2nd imo.
