I'm sure someone will chime out of now here on this draft but I'm perfectly not very excited about this draft after Barkley.

For the fun of it, who y’all taking #2 after Barkley? Have the 2nd pick and not finding great trade down options. My team is fairly well stacked at RB - fournette, ajayi, Duke johnson, burkhead - in ppr.

I’m liking guise just on talent, but penny has probably the best situation?

Assuming dynasty prolly still guice based on talent but Thompson’s still there. I actually like Michel more but hate his landing spot too. Carson may play significant time for Seattle. He looked great last year before the injury. Can’t see him not having a role the next couple years at least.

Thats the problem imo with this draft after 1.01, they are all depreciating assests as soon as you draft them. Guice has tough competition for playing time too.

Yep completely agree. It’s not a pick I’d want this year but if you can’t trade up/down not much you can do

I think you can trade out. I would trade out for a future 1st + something or an undervalued player. Someone in your league loves one of these RB.

If I couldn't trade out I'm taking a WR there though......

Tarik Cohen is killing camp right now. Which by itself isn't something to get crazy about but the way they are using him is. They are moving him all around and praying the defense puts a LB on him. The word I'm hearing is once they do it's over.

It's going to be all about usage with Cohen this year. When they use him he produces. At least last year that was the case. Howard's the 1st and 2nd down banger and Cohen comes in on 3rd downs. By the looks of camp though Cohen's snap count is going up.

He could very easily be the RB to own in this offense.

Seems like tons or opportunity for the other rookies. I won't argue with WW about talent as I don't dissect their college film but so far the Guice hype is strong. I don't see any competition at all for him. Ya Thompson is the 3rd down back but so many teams have that situation these days, what are you going to do?
Penny - everyone says the oline sucks but they didn't reach for the kid in the 1st not to use him. His job to take

Ronald Jones II - Needs to beat out peyton hillis or whoever the hell is there. Should be on the field a ton

Royce Freeman - Booker hasn't flashed. His job to take

Kerryon Johnson - They didn't take him in the 2nd to sit behind AA

Sony Michel - meh. Taken in the 1st but the pats. barf

Chubb - seems to have the most legit competition on his way to touches

Someone up there is going to offer some value I'm sure.

Also got Marlon Mack who couldn't beat out old man Gore last year but apparently the oline is much improved and no real competition brought in.

Just have to monitor camp mainly.

Chris Thompson was quietly the best 3rd down back in the league last year. Perine is super underrated imo as well. Guice isn't terrible but I'm honestly not sure he's better than Perine. So even if they push him as the starter he's off the field on all 3rd downs (Thompson)and as the season goes along he may get into more of a 50/50 split with Perine. Even if he does hold off Perine it's still some kind of split which makes Guice TD dependent.

I was a Thompson owner last year. He was like #7 rb in ppr before getting hurt and I think still finished top 15 so I'm not underestimating his usage.
Guice stat I was surprised to hear, last year his top speed clocked in mph in game was 1mph slower than tyreek hill's top speed.
Perine ain't doing that.
But all very early speculation until we start getting deeper into camp.

You don't have to be a great RB to be a RB1 in FF. Look at Melvin Gordon. He's lol bad but puts up great numbers. So if Guice gets all the GL carries from this guy.

5'10 240 and moves like that? Any chance that guy gets pulled in for GL work? I mean he's actually a 3 down back but Washington is to stupud to see it so they waste a pick on Guice.

The point is Perine worries me. Thompson is absolutely their 3rd back. So that 3rd down work is gone. If half the GL work is gone you won't be able to start him. Maybe they don't use Perine at and just pound Guice. That's certainly possible but not a given. We want to use the 1.02 on that situation though?

Yeah Guice had a great 40 time at 225 pounds. No doubt. He didn't do any of the agility drills.......why? Honestly if they use him a ton he could still be a RB1 this year so I'm still drafting him in the 1st with my rookie pick......just not at 1.02.

We didn't even get into his off the field issues or the fact he wasn't great against good teams in college. He was great against bad/mediocre teams. There's just some red flags there for me.

Up to 36hrs ago I had no interest in Guice due to his assumed role but all the teammate hype is now making me pay attention a bit but just the fact of Alex Smith turns me off of this whole team almost.
Except for Crowder. I like the dink and dunk opportunities he's going to offer in ppr in round 8+ probably?

Anyways, besides Guice, was just saying that there seems to be some good opportunities for plenty of rookies this year pertaining to redraft.
Also while looking at the rooks today, Chubb has jumped back on my radar for dynasty. Not that I think he's Barkley or anything but I didn't realize how well he did in the combine and just seems like he must have a ton of heart and can will himself to success. Not crazy about redraft for this year but definitely have a different take on him dynasty wise now after thinking about it.

My only dynasty team I have the 1.04. Probably one of the worst picks you can have this year. Is there really any difference between the 1.04 and the 1.08 this year? No value in it but I'll still see if I can trade out of it but who is going to want it? ugh
I traded Thompson off my team last year trying to tank for Barkley but couldn't quite suck enough...

The best time to try and trade that pick is during the draft. Also I'm in the minorty here, lots of ff guys like this draft so I could very easily be wrong. I just didnt like the combine or tape I saw this much.

There are guys I like but they landed wrong.

I didn't notice this guy until preseason. Who's the next guy to come out of nowhere?

Not to beat on a dead horse because really I'm not some Guice fanboy but looking into Lockett (good tip!), turns out that Thompson had a similar'ish injury. Not as gruesome and only broke 1 bone but that is notoriously slow to heal. I know a little extra about it because I've currently got screws and a plate holding mine together right now. Been 10 weeks and the bone still is not healed. I'm not a 20 something with optimal nutrition but overall it's a bone that isn't like an arm or something, 4-6 weeks and done and a good reason for why Lockett is a nice bounce back candidate this year. Probably Thompson will be fine but it is something to monitor/keep in mind.

Obviously the Andy Reid offensive system has been highly successful for PPR RB over the years. We know Nagy studied under Reid, we know when Nagy was calling plays RB had a good amount of catches. We also know Jordan Howard's middle name is Stone Hands.

I'd imagine what we see this year out of the Bears is kind of what New Orleans did last year with their two RBs. I would expect Cohen to finish the year in the 50-60 catch range with a dream ceiling of 75-85. I think TDs will be luck dependent as most of the goaline work will go to Howard.

We will also see 10-20 plays a game with both RB on the field.

Add in the 5-8 carries a game and you have at minimum a flex starter with his ceiling being low end RB1 in PPR.

Lockett broke both tibia and fibula, Thompson only his fibula. So he was bearing weight sooner than Lockett was. Lockett's injury was about as bad as it can get.

Chris Thompson should be 100% week one if not he'll be awfully close.

Ive never done best ball but I like Dixon. There’s some chance he becomes the starter at some point I think which will give you the most “boom” game potential

Of that list, I only have (small) shares of Dixon and Sproles. At the end of best ball drafts, you’re looking at these RBs because you’re realizing you’re slightly weak at RB (instead of, for instance, looking at a flier WR).

I like Sproles as a “floor” guy if, say, I spent early draft capital on RBs like Gurley and Bell but only have 4 RBs near the end of the draft. Obviously only applicable if your format is PPR, otherwise Sproles is undraftable even in a 20-round format.

I like Dixon for more RB upside, if, say, I started off WR heavy.

I’m indifferent between Dixon and Buck Allen though; I just took Allen in the 18th of a recent MFL10.
