Prepare to be considered an outcast Actually this was basically the point I was trying to make earlier. Hitting is deep and less variant than pitching. Great pitchers as always will emerge but it easier to count on the hitters at the back ends of drafts.

Not really familiar enough with your scoring system to comment but like a lot of the guys you have.

I don't play in points leagues anymore, but pitching is significantly more important in points leagues.

There are a lot of low average guys in your line up, but I assume it is points for hits, doubles etc. not for average.

This team is a great example of a mediocre roto team, but a pretty solid points team.

Yea you get points for doubles, triples, HR, walks, HBP, SB. Lose points for each AB, each strikeout, GIDP, caught stealing. Walks are a big deal in this league and so are minimizing strikeouts

Finally got to drafting. My goodness

Not touching pitching at all til the 8th round at earliest. People are so confused about how to value guys like Blackmon judge and Stanton, going hard in the paint for aces that you end up with bro at the end of round 1, goldy and Betts in round 2 and correa and Donaldson in round 3

And that’s ignoring guys like Seager and springer falling while people trip over their dicks to take Sanchez bellinger or Hoskins early with no value

There is simply way too much top quality hitting falling through the cracks to justify passing on them to snag a pitcher no matter who it is

As far as sleepers:

Alonso. Murdering spring, power is legit, hitting in the middle of the Cleveland lineup is a good thing

Braun. Moving to 1b a lot should help his health. Yelich and Cain represent opportunity for him to if not lead the majors in RBI be close to it. 8th-9th round ADP too low

Happ. Of all the rookies getting massively overvalued somehow he’s completely forgotten about. Also having a huge spring

Solarte. Call me a sucker but his positional versatility + moving to Toronto is pretty tantalizing. Yes, Pearce and morales burned me on this last year. Sticking to my guns anyway

Souza and Avila

12 team H2H 6x6. Daily changes. Added categories are OBP and L.

I got:
C: Lucroy
1B: Hoskins
2B: Merrifield
3B: Bregman
SS: Andrus
OF: Ozuna, Puig, Adam Jones
UTIL: Cabrera, Albies
Bench: Maikel Franco (ESPN made me take a 3B last round).

SP: Verlander, Wood, Teheran
P: J. Gray, Snell
RP: Parker, Leone

Bench: Stroman, Minter
Will add 2 more after I can put these 2 on the DL....
DL: Bumgarner, Samardzija

RP obviously is boned, so I need to find gold early. Beyond that...do I have a chance? My 5 keepers were mediocre.

Edit: Also, one owner has Vizcaino and LAA #2 RP guy. He is offering Vizcaino for Parker so we each control both on the same team. Snap that up and keep Viz/Minter?

Keep Parker. If Vizcaino pitches well, he'll be dealt; if not Minter will get a shot at the closer job.

Disagree on Braun. He's going to be the guy giving up at-bats for Santana and Aguilar. I doubt he plays 125 games.

Really like Happ in leagues with deep benches. His production should be really great, but playing time is really worrisome in Chicago.

I like to have at least one or two multi position players for plugging gaps on off days. Since I only carry 2 bench bats it is important that they have positional versatility. How do you rank Solarte vs guys like Nunez, Gennett, Gonzalez, Beckham etc. I was targeting Nunez and pretty much taking Beckham as my default last pick. Position management is important in roto to get full value at each position so having at least one of these kind of guys is important.

On Happ? I'd like him much more if he weren't a Cub. Maddon dicks around too much with the lineup and he will probably play in a lot of games he doesn't start and it makes that position management tougher.

Playing time shouldnt be an issue for Happ unless he struggles, which I don’t currently see. Happ taking over in CF, IMO, points to a platoon for Heyward and Almora. It prob impacts Zobrist playing time the most.

I definitely hope I'm wrong because I have Happ in a lot of leagues, but even if Happ is the "everyday" centerfielder it means 115 starts and another 30 GP as a pinch-hitter/defensive replacement, in my mind. Almora, Heyward, Zobrist, LaStella, and now Caratini are all going to get their at-bats, and that could mean more of Bryant and Contreras in the OF.

Caratini isn’t a factor here, Wilson is going to get days off because catchers need days off.

And Lastella is a PH and also is not a factor here.

Basically of the 5 players (Happ, Heyward, Schwarber, Almora and Zobrist) I’m willing to bet Happ gets the most ABs in 2018. Switch hitting really helps his cause since too.

After many rumors of being sent down, Ryan McMahon makes the team and is a nice pick up if available.

Players are starting to get moved to DL, so make sure you're keeping an eye on pickups.

Leone/Lyons look to be splitting closer duties for STL.
Boxberger named ARI closer, Bradley staying in "multi inning" role.

Melancon hasn't pitched since Friday, "feeling something in his arm", doesn't seem to be ready for opening day. May want to pick up Watson

edit: pony is slow lol

Late-breaking closer news...

Dominic Leone has been named the closer in St. Louis ahead of Luke Gregerson, who will likely start the year on the DL.

Brad Boxberger has been named the closer in Arizona, not Archie Bradley or Yoshihisa Hirano.

Both of those guys probably weren't drafted so they may still be on waivers in your leagues.

Orioles are saying they want to start the season with a committee. I think the arm to own is Brad Brach, but he might not be as good as a full-time closer.

Angels are saying the same, and it looks like Blake Parker is the guy to own. Keep an eye on Cam Bedrosian though.

Joakim Soria is old and has struggled this spring for the White Sox, Nate Jones is a good speculative pickup and can help your ratios even if he doesn't get the closer's gig.

One final reminder, everyone who posts or lurks this thread should put together an entry into the (free) 2018 MLB PEEHS contest!

It's a lot of fun to follow along all season long, all you have to do is take 5 minutes to make an entry before first pitch opening day.

Unless there is an injury, I don't see Aguilar having barely more than a bench/PH role, he could even be released early in the season as they plan to start with a 4 man rotation and he would be one of the first to go if there is a roster crunch.

If he doesn't get released, I think he gets 8-12 starts in NL games, which would normally be nothing, but in this case would be adding to the chipping away of Braun's at-bats.

I had a league fall through last minute two days ago and would like to get in one more low stakes league, preferably h2h if anyone knows one drafting tonight that needs someone last minute. Super no0b here just looking to get my feet wet
