Improved oline is the biggest thing (not saying I totally agree with the ranking). Duke isn't much of a concern, he's gonna line up as a receiver a lot of the time too I believe.

duke is the gio bernard to crowell - jeremy hill in hues system. only crowells more talented than hill. crowell was 14th standard last year i think he'll jump into the top 10 this year

I've seen the rankings go all over with this group, except Fournette is usually at the end.

I don't think there is a lot of difference here - anyone have strong opinions on any of these backs to differentiate them?
I would rank:

2nd tier: Howard, Freeman, Ajayi, Gordon, Murray

3rd tier:
miller, gurley, fournette

His ranking comes from his blowout games though. I see Duke taking a lot of his TD opportunities away. I would rather have Duke at his ADP as a FLEX/3rd RB than Crowell at his ADP.

Why the Melvin Gordon hate? I like him as the beginning of that second tier and may even like him more than Shady when you start to think about the miles on McCoy.

Ok what am I missing? He is 8 months off an injury. All reports are that he looks healthy.

He was a consistent top 5 RB last year, he is young and heading into his third season. In an offense that will be playing from behind and playing in a lot of shootouts. Is the clear cut #1 without anyone to take away catches or goal line carries.

Honestly, I want a real explanation.

I think the main arguments against him are that he is not good at football (as shown by his poor efficiency numbers), he is quite injury prone, and his offensive line might be bad. He will (if healthy) shoulder a large portion of the load though, which is still worth a lot in this day and age.

Seems like a decent deal for both sides given team A has no chance to compete this year and team B seems to have a shot at shipping.

Quote:
BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official website reports the Alex Smith-Tyreek Hill connection has been "great" during training camp.
The Kansas City Star's Terez Paylor adds, "Hill can really track it, and Smith trusts him." The two have apparently been lighting up the practice field for the past week, with Hill playing bigger than his 5'10/185 frame. He's been doing damage downfield and in the red zone, splitting All-Pros Marcus Peters and Eric Berry for a touchdown on Friday. Hill's ADP has settled into the middle of the fourth round at WR23. There's still upside at that price as K.C.'s most lethal weapon. Aug 4 - 11:22 AM

This guy is the next big thing in the NFL. He's going to start going in the third round in redrafts......

i was at the game where melvin gordon set the NCAA rushing records for a game. it was snowing out and he only played 3 quarters.

if SD had an offensive line like wisconsin has (relative to college defenders), then yeah, melvin is a top 5 back. its unfortunately not true.

that was a hell of a game to be at though

That I agree with. I'm not arguing that Melvin Gordon is a good RB. I'm just arguing that in a world where there are only 3 perfect RBs, he might have the best situation of the next group. Injury prone for RB doesn't bother me unless it is concussions which can be problematic because of the uncertainty. All NFL running backs are going to miss games. You just hope it's not at a bad time.

This is one of the reasons I have been hating the 7th & 8th pick. Your options are between guys that are not that good but will play (Ajayi, Gordon), guys who are good, will play, but have major question marks (McCoy with carries and age and Howard with no other offensive options on the team) or guys with better players behind them (Freeman. Murray)

So you are stuck with one of those guys as your RB1 or you have to go 0 RB, but not really end up with a dominant WR.

Football Guys has Gordon in the #4 RB spot which I did not agree with at first, but I had been warming up to as I am doing more and more mocks from the 7, 8, 9. I'm still trying to find a way I'm happy with my team when I'm picking at anything worse than 6. It just looks like a dog's breakfast where I'm hoping two of the 5 RBs I draft are good and 2 of the 5 WRs I draft are good and of course since I'm waiting on TE & QB just nothing makes me happy right now.

5th pick in a pretty competitive .5 ppr 14-teamer (QB/2RB/3WR/TE/FLEX). Last year RBs flew off the board. Two questions:

1) Knowing how quickly RBs will go again, is there any merit to taking Shady with the 5th pick? Or is taking one of ODB/Julio mandatory? I'm kind of scared of what will be left in round 2.

2) I've always spent my last two picks on D/K. Is it ok to reach a couple rounds early for one of Gostowski/Tucker? How bout a defense? I think I'm ok with reaching on a kicker cause Gostowski/Tucker have done so well the past couple of years. Defense I'm hesitant on cause while streaming in a 14-teamer is tough, it's hard to know which D to draft if I do decide to grab one early.

1) Other people drafting poorly shouldn't make you draft poorly too. Take the value they gift you and lol at them.

2) Lol kicker forever and always, do not pick one outside the last two rounds. Gostkowski wasn't even a top 12 kicker last year iirc. As far as D's, streaming is indeed a little more problematic in a 14 teamer, so I don't mind taking one in the 3rd or 4th to last rounds if the top 10 are running low. Once the top 10 are gone though, don't worry about it and just 2nd to last round it up.

Gordon is nothing special and guarantees points with sheer volume I see much better players around his adp.

I know this is FF and he is a great ff player, but id rather watch and root for AJ Green than for gordon tbh

12 team, 3 keepers (slowly building to 5-keeper/dynasty hybrid) 1.25 ppr , return yards. 3WR/1 flex

I have 5th pick, non-snake. Keeping Shady, Gronk, GOAT.

Targeting Mccaffrey but i think he goes 3rd or 4th If i want Tyreek i have to take him first. Is it insane to take Kelce given i have Gronk??

Either don't take Kelce, or don't keep Gronk. You don't need 2 TEs.
