Seems pretty even. I don't think either side is crushing the other.

In general terms, batter for pitcher swaps tend to favor the team getting the batter.

What's your 1B/CI and steals situation? If those are lacking then I'd do it

In a vacuum I snap accept that. You can make up pitching by trading a bat if need be.

You can't win in a 5x5 roto with no saves. Your pitching right now is insane and pretty unnecessary. I would try and move 2 of Pineda/cole/Sanchez for 2 closers

any insight on whether they'll ever let wood throw 100 pitches? this is a bit concerning and I can't find anything on that.

I tried to move Pineda for saves and everyone wanted one of cargo, Seager or cano + Pineda for a closer and mediocre bat. That's why I moved on from getting svs because the price was insane

His last name reminds the Dodgers of Kerry Wood so they are never gonna let him throw more than 100 pitches or even close to 200IP

The price is insane for closers because its virtually impossible to win a roto league with only 1 point in any category

Yeah, when I tried to express this thought earlier I just got ridiculed. But most guys have 2-3 closers and know they will be hurt if they lose one so nobody wants to trade them unless they can really get something special in return. Closers are such a finite resource that they need to be addressed in the draft and then hopefully stay healthy. In addition to the necessary saves good closers are very valuable for the 100ish innings of solid whip/era and Ks.

Right I recognize that, the issue for me was I had bad svs and stls the path to stls was easier than saves so I traded for turner which I hope gives me a 4-6pt bump now that I can play Hernandez Turner and owings everyday and I tried to lock in 12 pts in at least 2 if not 4 pitching categories. If I average 10 pts across 4 pitching and 1 in svs. That's 41 pts right now 83 is leading so I need 43pts in the other 5 hitting categories (idk how many pts win roto 5x5 typically) which is an average of 8.6 per.

I figured that was more likely than moving up 4pts max in svs and not crushing pitching and gaining stls. This is my 1st yr playing roto, so is this the right mindset or am I doing something wrong (I mean wrong as in post draft, I know I should've drafted more closers)

2 big things to note:

Dodgers were up 12-0, and wanted Stripling to pitch since he pitched once in May. No need to keep pushing Wood when the game is over.

Wood only pitched 60 innings last year. Not sure how much they want to push him to keep starting, especially coming off 2 elbow injuries last year.

Your point estimates sound about right, but I've never done a 12-team roto.

You're not going to be better than middle of the pack in era and whip with so many starters. A lot of set-up men are going to have better whip, era, and k/ip than the guys who are going to be eating up a lot of your innings.

I also don't think you're going to finish that high up in hr and rbi.

You also don't have to draft closers; you just have to be willing to do the work through the season to get saves and be prepared for that beforehand.

good insights, thanks. although I'd like to see Wood get a chance over Ryu. If it comes to those two though I'm sure Wood will lose out because he has relief experience

You got ridiculed for drafting 2 SPs in addition to two closers in the first 6 rounds. Closers are valuable yes, but if you took idk osuna Greg holland and Iglesias or someone like that you're crushing right saves right now

Seriously though. Trevor Cahill. 43% owned on Yahoo!. New sinker that he's apparently crushing with. Very close zone-swing and o-swing %. getting over twice the grounders as FBs. one of the highest swstr and k% period. time to hop on
