If I average 10 pts across 4 pitching and 1 in svs. That's 41 pts right now 83 is leading so I need 43pts in the other 5 hitting categories (idk how many pts win roto 5x5 typically) which is an average of 8.6 per.
I figured that was more likely than moving up 4pts max in svs and not crushing pitching and gaining stls. This is my 1st yr playing roto, so is this the right mindset or am I doing something wrong (I mean wrong as in post draft, I know I should've drafted more closers)
Your point estimates sound about right, but I've never done a 12-team roto.
You're not going to be better than middle of the pack in era and whip with so many starters. A lot of set-up men are going to have better whip, era, and k/ip than the guys who are going to be eating up a lot of your innings.
I also don't think you're going to finish that high up in hr and rbi.
You also don't have to draft closers; you just have to be willing to do the work through the season to get saves and be prepared for that beforehand.
