Margot off to a really good run, add him if he's still available imo, 2 HR last night, 2 doubles off MadBum today so far, and a SB earlier this week

I hate your first 2 picks to be honest. I feel like Turner was being waaaay overdrafted and pairing a guy that risky with one of the riskier aces is asking for trouble imo.
Btw, did you take Thor ahead of Bum and Scherzer? Seems like a bad pick either way, because if Im going pitching there (Im not) I def take those two along with several other SP ahead of Thor. And if Bum and Scherzer were both already off the board then there had to be a couple of legit 1st rd bats available (Harper? Donaldson? Miggy? Blackmon?) and not taking them would be a big mistake.

Your pitching has a pretty good chance to be terrible. I dont get taking your 2nd closer 4 rounds before taking your 2nd SP.
Is this a roto league? If its H2H you're going to need 2 or 3 more starters.
I do like Joc and Kiermaier a lot where you got them.

I'm half-drunk and, after a ****-talking filled text thread, I made a bet.

I have Kendall Graveman, two of my friends have Jharel Cotton. Higher end of season ESPN player rater finish in a K, QS, ERA, WHIP, and K/9 fantasy league, $50 apiece.

Who likes my side?

Then the A's have more MLB-capable SP then we're aware of...?

Lol there's no injury/minors protection, just straight 2017 fantasy value as calculated by the ESPN player rater

One of my buddies is good friends with graveman. He took us out to dinner after a game. Because of that graveman all day

He also looked sharp tonight

Meanwhile Castro up to 5th so time to expand on my premise

In the entirety of castro's minor league career there was nothing consistent with the idea that he'd come up the majors and strike out 1/3 of the time. The Astros development of hitters at the MLB level is staggeringly awful and preaches swing often and swing as hard as you can. It's incredibly undicisplined and leads to a litany of players who should be better striking out a ton, not a coincidence that there's a long list of players who couldn't hack it in Houston that became good to great elsewhere

So look at castro. When he got called up he was decent enough then evolved into a guy who kept swinging for the fences, missing a metric ton but still with a decent enough eye to get on base with consistency but still getting hammered down the order til by the end of his time in Houston in the games he started he was hitting 9th and pressing to his largest whiff rate of his career in his walk year

It's only been 4 games and only 16 plate appearances but despite every reason why this shouldn't be possible if all you know about castro is his stats with Houston he has a whiff rate under 5% and an o-swing% under 14. And when he does swing and when he does connect, he's hitting it hard. Again, only 16 PA, but it's 16 PA that in tandem with this spring demonstrate a hitting approach that completely discards what he was doing in Houston. This has always been a guy with upside and if he ends up hitting in the heart of the twins order he's getting there

In short I truly believe if you're not getting schwarber Sanchez realmuto or posey, castro is very likely the best of what's left

Just remember, so far he's seen Danny Duffy, Ian Kennedy, Jason Hammel, and Miguel Gonzalez. Twins are 4-1 for a reason right now (and not a good team)

Not untrue. Having said that even if that's an argument against I would counter by saying save for probably 6 starters (at least one who will be traded before the deadline) the pitching in the central is really bad

Also would be a neat trick for him to have faced Santana

Also I'm glad you mentioned kennedy cuz I think that's a good argument for me

Whatever else you want to say about kennedy, he gets people to miss and gets strikeouts and for a strikeout prone swing and miss hitter like castro is supposed to be, that matchup should still be a nightmare

Castro's line in that game? 0/0 4 walks, not a single outside swing

Intrigued by Castro in OBP leagues as a guy who can fill the Sanchez void without killing your rate stats (maybe even helping them). I scooped up Leon quickly today to slot him in at catcher - would you drop him for Castro for next week?

Leon has 7 games (@DET, 2BAL, 1 PIT, 3TB)
Castro has 6 (3@DET, 3CWS)

I hate catchers All I want out of a catcher is too not suck too bad. Any thing positive they can contribute is a plus. I always wait and often stream but if I can get a guy who hits .250 and 15+ HRs I am happy. Its easy for them to hurt avg. though. Castro available in all of my leagues so I will keep an eye on him. Sitting with Vogt, Wieters, Perez and Leon right now and doubt Castro would be either an upgrade or a downgrade with any of them

I always stream catchers with one exception: if I can get a guy who will play almost every day (Posey until recently, Sanchez) - i'll pay up for them early. Otherwise yeah I just draft a catcher with my last pick.
