Overlooked this the first time but I'm very interested in this

Valencia's pretty underrated. Contrary to whatever every team who had him before Oakland thought he can hit RHP just fine. He just hits LHP better. Seattle's lineup is sneaky good and I assume he'll be hitting 6th against RHP and higher up against LHP. The former isn't ideal but it does put him behind cano/Cruz/seager which is not a bad place to be

Another big thing to notice: Nicholas (he's called Nicholas now, idk) Castellanos has been hitting 2nd, and has been hitting with a LOT of power this ST. I didn't believe in it, but he has looked very good from what I've watched, and hitting between Kinsler and Cabrera is pretty big. They're saying they're still deciding who will hit 2nd, but they've been regularly slotting him in 2nd.

More (a lot) notes:

Berrios demoted to AAA. Seems like this is more so he can be stretched out, since he wasn't in WBC, and he'll move into the rotation soon into the year (assuming AAA goes well)
Iglesias throwing again, injury was from a fall and not baseball related, arm should be fine.
Matz dealing with elbow irritiation, do not want
Byung Ho Park has looked amazing this ST, OPS >1, comparing to last ST, it seems like he may have found his stride and adjusted better this year. Keep a close eye on him imo.
Sandoval keeps mashing, could be back into form, although currently estimated to hit 8th. Unless he moves up, not ideal.
Brantley has showed no power so far in ST. Limited sample, but I'm worried.
Manaea has had 1 good outing this spring, and is barely getting stretched out (pulled early last game he was that bad). Haven't read anything about him really, but I worry he could lose his rotation spot and see some time in AAA if he keep struggling and can't get stretched out.
Napoli currently slotted in at #4 in the lineup, before Odor and Lucroy, after Beltre (!?). Seems like we might be underdrafting him, if he stays at #4 could have a lot of value if he hits well like last year.

the red sox lineup is probably the deepest in baseball to the point where i don't think sandoval hitting 8th is a dealbreaker by any stretch. it sucks that he's hitting in front of vasquez, but other than that there's no reason to suspect he can't produce

along the same lines of napoli, i think moreland is worth keeping an eye on, although i think that's also the spot in the lineup most vulnerable and open for sandoval to move into. moreland is in a gin position in terms of who he's hitting behind and in front of and with a decent average even with only 20 homers his R+RBI potential will make him enormously valuable

what's really catching my eye is buxton hitting 3rd. when did this start?

i always like throwing this question out to this forum, cause yall know some really random guys:

who's your 'probably under people's radars and starting in AAA this year but should hit the bigs at some point' guy? like a cody bellinger type, although im not sure how under the radar he is

also it's worth noting that the forgotten man randal grichuk actually lived up to his hype last year after he got called back up. 16 homers in 70 games which is a 37 homer pace. he had a .280 ISO post compared to .113 pre demotion. he'll be hitting too low in the order to be relevant in runs and the ceiling of his average is .260 with a terrible OBP, but if you need a huge upside power guy late (or one that's on the waivers currently), he's your huckleberry

also sorting by 2nd half iso (grichuk was 12th) showed me that tomas and gattis were way better in the 2nd half (espcially tomas) than i gave them credit

Lewis Brinson?
Jesse Winker (but has showed little power so far, only 23)

Also, Mitch Haniger is a guy I haven't noticed, tore up AAA last year, traded to SEA, hitting 6th, and is having an amazing ST (25/62, 2 HR/2 SB)

I've been intrigued by haniger but I'm kinda soured by the fact that he's hitting 7th or 8th on any given night with no viable road up the order barring injury

I think he's good enough to make Valencia more valuable hitting ahead of him though

A brother can't get some advice or analysis on my 2 teams?

Do you think I should drop Miguel Sano and add Danny Valencia?

Definitely not

Sano has 30+ HR upside. I would say no...Is he most expendable player on your roster? Valencia definitely got a value jump but he doesn't have a lot of success against RHP.

On a side note, I met Valencia yesterday. He seemed pretty funny and cool but I've heard he's a clubhouse nightmare.

Most expendable Stat wise is Evan Gattis, but the available catchers in this league are disgusting:

Dickerson likely to lead off vs righties. power was still there kinda. and he's going outside top 200+ easily. another late round power sleeper i think

This is a narrative with literally zero factual basis. He hits LHP better than RHP but in the last 2 seasons since being an everyday player has hit RHP perfectly fine

Gsellman confirmed in the rotation. Matz might mean lugo in too

The guy I'm keeping an eye on is Rhys Hoskins. If Joseph doesn't get off to a good start in Philadelphia then I think Hoskins will get the next shot at 1B. Less power than Joseph, but more average.

Yeah you're right... which is why the M's are comfortable having him play there every day.

not sure if you meant that sarcastically, but ya, they feel comfortable enough having him play every day that they sent vogelbach down who was theoretically the guy he was gonna platoon with

anyone wanna try to sort out this weird COL potentially filling in for desmond grouping of: patterson, adames, valaika, and cardullo?

Naw I made my first statement w/out really thinking. I was targeting Valencia last year because he actually can hit RHP and then he was pretty frustrating to own in 2016 and I guess that's why I reverted back to group think. He could actually be a sleeper this year, but will he actually reach 450+ ABs?

How are we liking this team? 6x6 with OBP and Holds. $280 auction budget 12 teamer.

C - Sal Perez $1
1B - Edwin $36
2b - Cesar Hernandez $1
3B - Arenado $57
SS - Villar $34
SS/2B - E Nunez $9
1B/3B - Justin Turner $12
OF - JDM $14
OF - Ozuna $9
OF - Kiermaier $5
OF - Tomas $4
OF - Garnder $1
UTIL - Morales $9
UTIL - Castellanos $5
Bench - Dickerson $1

SP - Acher $24
SP - Maeda $10
SP - Roark $4
SP - Cotton $2
SP - Gray $4
SP - Pineda $4
SP - Paxton $2
RP - Miller $16
RP - Cody Allen $9
RP - Butcher $2
RP - Brad Hand $1
RP - Barroclough $3
RP - Brandon Maurer $1

Feel like I've got a pretty balanced offense as far as HR, RBI, and steals go. Runs, Avg, and OBP could use some work.

Not sure what to think of my rotation. I wanted archer and miller supplementing with high K holds guys and high K starters. If JDM is back before end of April that pick will be huge

1. Blackmon OF
2. Scherzer SP
3. Villar 2B/3B/SS
4. Lester SP
5. Hendricks SP
6. Abreu 1B
7. Colome RP (8 RPs already gone by this point)
8. Herrara RP
9. Quintana SP
10. Kemp OF
11. Eaton OF
12. Watson RP
13. Nunez SS/3B
14. Mauerer RP
15. Fowler OF

17. Miller 1B/SS
18. Beltran OF
19. Kiermaier OF
20. Walker 2B
21. Brach RP

I've done four mocks and one real draft and Nunez was never taken in the top 230 of the mocks or 250 of my real draft.
