JDM left the game with right ankle injury today, was limping at first but walked off, returned later on crutches (no word on injury, assume ankle sprain)

edit: Mid right foot sprain, x-rays negative

Looks like people are finally noticing nova. Which is weird considering he did well in a game where literally nobody on the Red Sox played

I bet Pablo also thinks he got his weight under control. That dude is just undisciplined when it comes to everything, on the field and off.

also, up to 12 (soon to be 13) vetoed trades in a YPL, so awful, not sure why they won't disable this guys trades already. All vetoed are to 2 or 3 people only, and he's sent me awful trades in his favor to me repeatedly, super sketchy

20 team dynasty league, 40 man rosters. (25 active + 15 minor squad + unlimited DL)
This an auction/contract league with a hard salary cap of $120 that cannot ne exceeded at any point.

I have been offered his
David Dahl ($1/2 yrs) + Julio Urias ($1/4yrs)
for my
Addison Russell ($1/2yrs) + Sean Manaea ($1/3yrs)

I have Story for 2 yrs at SS and also have a couple scrub SS backups, and a weakish OF3/UT, which is why put Russell on the block.
Obv Dahl's injury sucks in the short term, but is this still a win overall?

I think that's a pretty massive long term win for you

JDM seeing a foot specialist for his injury, seems unlikely to be ready at start of season, but no official word yet

JDM thing is pretty annoying. News broke about his foot a couple hours after I submitted him as a keeper in one of my leagues. Hope this doesnt turn into a nagging season long problem

Alright so here's the final team I just drafted in the 6x6, 12 team league. started off the draft well (got freeman for 42, strass and cmart for 28 each) but after that I missed on some of the other guys I wanted and waited to long to spend my cash. My pitching staff is probably mid tier (got a lot of high K guys with some upside but obviously it would be great to lock down a workhouse like bum or Kershaw since my ratios are looking to be in pretty bad shape. wanted to save $$$ for Phelps and Kelly as they're super valuable in this format since you can get holds out of your SP slot.

Going to drop Gurriel and street for two holds guys too. Not super pumped about my offense either as it's either stud or waiver player but I guess most teams are like that too. Let me know yalls thoughts about where I can improve trade wise before the season starts.

C - Vogt
1B - Freeman
2B - Altuve
3B - Arenado
SS - Semien
2B/SS - Josh Harrison
1B/3B - Donaldson
OF - Betts
OF - JDM
OF - Springer
OF - Pollock
UTIL - Kiermaier
UTIL - Yasmany Tomas
Bench - Gardner

P - Colome
P - Street
P - Kintzler
P - Will Harris
P - Stickland
SP - David Phelps
SP - Joe Kelly
SP - Carrasco
SP - Strasburg
Bench - Cmart
Bench - Rich Hill
Bench - Pineda
Bench - Tajiuan Walker
Bench - Robbie Ray

i'm finding myself more and more intrigued by moreland

consider that his lifetime road/home splits are basically the same on every number of consequence, near identical hr/fb, consider he's going to have a pretty loaded offense in front of him and consider he's a lefty pull hitter who hits the ball hard and is going to fenway and the AL east

i don't think he's worth drafting or picking up (yet) considering the plan at the moment is for him to only start against RHP but he's definitely worth watching at the start of the season (crushing the spring)

i could live to be a thousand and i'll never understand how teams handle pearce the way they do

smoak brings quite literally less than nothing to the table and yet he's the incumbent who's forcing pearce into a platoon, even though pearce outperforms smoak against RHP by a LOT

i just have a hard time believing smoak holds off pearce. maybe i'm wrong and gibbons is every it the idiot i've always believed him to be

My first and only snake draft of the season. 12 Team Standard 5x5

C: Mike Zunino (28:9)
1B: Joey Votto (3:4)
2B: Jose Altuve (1:4)
3B: Jose Ramirez (10:9)
SS: Jed Gyorko (18:9)
CI: Mike Moustakas (16:9)
MI: DJ LeMahieu (8:9)
OF: Nelson Cruz (2:9)
OF: Billy Hamilton (6:9)
OF: Yasmany Tomas (12:9)
OF: Kevin Kiermaier (14:9)
OF: Domingo Santana (20:9)
UT: Jay Bruce (21:4)
P: Aroldis Chapman (4:9)
P: Kenley Jansen (5:4)
P: Masahiro Tanaka (7:4)
P: Danny Duffy (11:4)
P: Sean Manaea (13:4)
P: Felix Hernandez (15:4)
P: Aaron Nola (17:4)
P: Jake Odorizzi (19:4)
P: Matt Bush (23:4)
B: Ian Desmond (9:4)
B: Ben Revere (22:9)
B: Will Harris (24:9)
B: Grant Dayton (25:4)
B: Brad Brach (26:9)
B: Pedro Strop (27:4)

Three strategies in this draft, two planned, one adjustment. There is no waiver priority in this league, so any closer injuries I pretty much can never capitalize on. So I had a set plan to go back to back top closers in the 4th and 5th.

There is no innings cap, but my plan is to have 6 starting pitchers and my seventh starting pitcher is a collective group of middle relievers that can put up mid 2s ERA, under 1 WHIP and get one or two Ks per inning pitched. So basically every week I have a line of 9 IP 1.00 ERA 0.75 WHIP 10 Ks out of those guys to give me one great start per week.

Finally, catchers were flying off the board. So my goal was to grab LeMahieu to go along with Altuve and Votto hopefully giving me enough average to benefit from 20 Mike Zunino HRs but not be killed by his .200 BA.

Update #3, JDM now seeing a different foot specialist for a Stress CT Scan, if it is a stress fracture, not good. I've heard he's doing a lot better and Tigers are being cautious, but still wouldn't want to draft him until official word comes out

If a league has an 18 inning minimum and 9 pitching slots, is all closers/set up men a viable strategy? Can really focus on hitting and snag undervalued high K, low WHIP relievers who don't get S or W.

i'm confused as to how solarte isn't a bigger deal. higher hard hit rate last year at the expense of soft hit, has excellent average and decent power in the middle of an incredibly underrated lineup. had a 162 game pace last year of 114 RBI. he has 2b/3b eligibility, doesn't strike out (much), has good average, decent OBP, lineup behind him got better which should inflate his runs, has a sustainable babip and in all likelihood wasn't drafted in your league

you should probably fix that

I think it is depending on the scoring categories - what is your league setup like?

Just traded Betts for machado to strengthen my IF. Currently have an offer of his trout for my Donaldson and Cmart. None are keepable. That's a snap right?

Hes an infielder who doesn't steal at all and has mediocre power - only 42 extra base hits. He wont hurt you in average or OBP but hes certainly not an asset in those categories.
The lineup might have improved but it still sucks donkey balls. Best case scenario is he gets to 150 R+RBI but realistically he's good for 130 or so.
So hes not really helping in any offensive categories.
In leagues with MI hes serviceable if you punt the position, but I would be surprised if he returned much, or any, positive value.

At 3B or CI he will be fantasy replacement level, and is just a no go unless your league rosters 400+ players

I'm sure he's getting drafted more and higher now that he's looking like he'll start at second. It looked like he, Schimpf, and Spangenberg were going to be splitting time a couple weeks ago.

I drafted him at 308 in a 15-team league and that felt about right at the time for someone looking at getting 125ish games. I'd definitely look at him around the 200 spot going forward though.
