He's probably worth a flyer but he's never going to beat out Dahl if Dahl can play regardless of whether he's healthy or not

He was really bad

Even if Dahl doesn't play a game this season parra brings nothing to the table that should make you care

He doesn't run, he has little power, he'll never hit better than 7th

6x6 H2H with OPS and QS

6th pick is basically a sit and pray goldschmidt falls right?

You're gonna get one of trout/betts/arenado/Bryant/Goldy/kershaw.

Can't go wrong with any of those guys

In my keeper league I have Betts, Turner, Rizzo, Sale, Jansen and JD Martinez.

10 team league in 5x5, do I just go straight hitting until about when?

Need a little more info, any idea on what pitchers are being kept and is it auction or snake?

I'd try and pair another ace type guy with sale preferably one of the big 3 if possible then focus on hitting until late

i'm really struggling with why people are so hyped on lindor. his floor and ceiling are both below his ADP. he's not a likely power hitter on any level, his speed may have upside but is likely nerfed cuz of the OBP ahead of him minimizing his opportunities, if anything his runs will drop and his rbi is what it is. there's nothing about him that's worth a 3rd rounder

I think his floor is really high, his ceiling pretty low. Could see another step forward in HR (9.9 HR/FB after 13% in 2015) and don't quite get why you expect a decrease in runs after Edwin replaced Napoli. I think he's exactly a 3rd rounder.

cuz i'd be very surprised if encarnacion got more homers than napoli got last year which would make his OBP roughly equivalent to what napoli's was. higher average than napoli, sure, but really by how much?

Unless you're predicting <25 HRs for EE, which I think would be unreasonable, the difference in the runs Lindor'd score off dingers would be awfully negligible.

So based in what I can tell about 10 or 11 pitchers are going to be kept, not including mine. That includes Chapman and Britton being kept. It's a snake draft.

Should I try to trade up and pair a Sale with a pick upgrade to get better SP?
I hear a lot of people down on him this year.

1. (7) Manny Machado (Bal - 3B,SS)
2. (18) Joey Votto (Cin - 1B)
3. (31) Jonathan Villar (Mil - 2B,3B,SS)
4. (42) Brian Dozier (Min - 2B)
5. (55) Wil Myers (SD - 1B,OF)
6. (66) Grégory Polanco (Pit - OF)
7. (79) Justin Upton (Det - OF)
8. (90) Anthony Rendón (Was - 3B)

10. (114) Rich Hill (LAD - SP)
11. (127) Kenta Maeda (LAD - SP)
12. (138) Stephen Piscotty (StL - OF)
13. (151) James Paxton (Sea - SP)
14. (162) John Lackey (ChC - SP)
15. (175) Vince Velásquez (Phi - SP)
16. (186) Greg Bird (NYY - 1B)
17. (199) Garrett Richards (LAA - SP)
18. (210) Hunter Renfroe (SD - OF)
19. (223) Matt Shoemaker (LAA - SP)
20. (234) Iván Nova (Pit - SP,RP)
21. (247) Domingo Santana (Mil - OF)
22. (258) Blake Snell (TB - SP)
23. (271) Welington Castillo (Bal - C)

i'll discuss this more tomorrow but this is easily the draft i'm most satisfied with and i think the strategy i'm going to employ going forward. getting myers and polanco in the spots i would have taken cueto/verlander and carrasco/archer is preferable i think

I get the intention here, but just cannot get onboard.

Just don't see enough to trust with this staff. I see it more as a lotto ticket strategy.
The high value/safety arms going in the rounds 6,7 range u can secure to anchor a staff; still employing your strategy of waiting: (archer/carrasco/verlander/price/arrieta) has to make more sense; imo

The arms u come out with have plenty of potential, but much more likely leave u with a staff ERA exceeding 4.00
(Zero RP's drafted, what's the plan there?)

I like the all-hitter strategy, but don't like that you went Teheran (who was very lucky in 2016 and won't repeat) or that you ditched bullpen. I'd have gone for closers who'd serve as a foundation for your rate stats, try to get Miller, then gone with upside starters late. Really like the hitters (Only complaint is I'd Odor over Dozier)

i agree teheran isn't as great as his stats from last year (especially with a full season of kemp in the field to stomach) but he'll be a useful trade piece in preseason

as to my strategy in general, it's rooted in part with the idea that year in and year out you can assemble a top tier pitching staff (without trades) made of nothing but round 17 and later starters as well as pickups along the way. my mistake last year when i went with the all RP strategy is i would routinely identify those pitchers and not draft them or pick them up then immediately trade them instead of build around them

as to the no RP issue, obviously this isn't something i plan on having for a full season, gotta have RP if you want to competitive in ratios obviously, but i don't see value in drafting any. for one thing, there are 5 different teams where there isn't a closer named and another couple where a closer was named but their stay isn't expected to be long. for another over the course of a season closers will lose their jobs, get hurt, or just flat out suck while elite ratio relievers who are undrafted will be available from day 1. i can live with forfeiting saves the first couple weeks while the situation shores itself out, obviously it's not a strategy that's usable in roto but in h2h it's very easily manageable

My attitude towards relievers is different. To me, they're trade pieces once you've picked a couple from he wire with a ready made market that usually ensures you're getting more trade value out of them than you would a non-closer picked at the same spot. I want to leave every draft with three of them.

Someone is offering me Yu Darvish & Jon Lester for my Kershaw. What are your thoughts on the value of this?

Sonny Gray out at least 3 weeks with lat strain, will start season on DL.
Greinke's velocity is below 90 so far in ST, worrisome imo.

edit: Some more stuff

Pujols could be ready to play a ST game this weekend, seems very likely he'll be ready for start of season now.
Brantley to play OF in simulated game soon.

Carpenter "about 10 days away" from being cleared to swing in a cage, a bit worrisome since they're still having him play in games on defense, but hope no setback happens.
