My last keeper, I can effectively keep for free forever

QS, K, K/9, ERA, WHIP, Sv

Trevor Bauer or Mike Foltynewicz?

My current keeper lineup and positions are as follows:

C - Empty
1B - Empty
2B - Altuve
3B - Arenado
SS - Empty
SS/2B - Empty
1B/3B - Donaldson
OF - Betts
OF - Just Dong Martinez
OF - Springer
OF - Pollock
UTIL - Empty
UTIL - Empty

P - Carrasco

I really like Pollock for his steals and between him, altuve, and betts it should keep me above 7 points at least. Dozier is tempting though cause it fills up my middle IF essentially and my OF is already going to be deep.

Thoughts?

i mean if you believe in the absolute godlike 2nd half then i guess dozier

short of literally exactly what he did last season it's pollock and it's not close

Thats super close IMO, curious if anyone has a strong feeling on this one. Most of their stats are very similar. But I would lean Bauer, 190 IP last year is good to see he can handle a full season.

all things being equal i trust the guy pitching in the NL with the higher whiff k/9 and lower bb/9 rates, even if it's a negligible difference

not really, but then i also think projections are bearish on pollock and bullish on dozier

dozier's OBP has been horse**** basically up until last season (and even .340 isn't exactly setting the world on fire considering a near .300 ISO) so 1 point pollock (edit: dozier's ISO was higher than his batting average last year. that is not easy to pull off)

42 homers and still only 104 runs. offense behind him is a lot worse than the offense behind pollock. roll back the OBP and the homers and the runs will drop as well considering i have little faith in the offense behind him. 2 points pollock who will have a strong OBP and a stronger order behind him

rbi is probably a wash (again, unless you assume dozier hits 40+). still 2 points pollock

steals. not close. 3 points pollock

homers. dozier. 3-1 pollock

the k/9 and bb/9 are minimal, buy ya the NL tie breaker could i guess break the tie for me.

STEAMER PROJ:

Runs: BD-85, AJ-80

RBIs: BD-78, AJ-63

HRs: BD-26, AJ-16

SB: BD-13, AJ-24

3-1 Brian Dozier, did iwreck specify if its AVG or OBP? either way that would make it 3-2 BD

In any event its close, and to say its not close is absurd.

Think Dan Vogelbach is someone to keep a close eye on in ST. Could win full time 1B spot in SEA with Lee back in Korea (he could platoon with Valencia, why ST will matter), and he was a good 1B prospect stuck behind Rizzo in CHC.

Hit .292 (with .417 OBP!) last year in AAA, 23 HR, 97 BB/101 K in 133 games. Seems to crush RHP, but just ok vs LHP, but has some real upside potential. And if Cruz gets injured he easily slots into DH for them.

Also, first YPL trade i've seen vetoed so far (was in 12 or so last year)
C Davis, Fowler, HanRam, and Betances for Baez, Ellsbury, Rondon, Cobb
lol

People are fleecing this guy in trades, feel bad for him since he has no idea

2 other things I'm very interested in in ST:

1. Giants #5. If it's Cain then who cares. If it's blach and especially if it's beede this is worth keeping an eye on
2. The Brewers batting order. Domingo Santana and Travis Shaw can both be hugely value picks if they're consistently 3 and 5 respectively although I'd be stunned if Shaw isn't a platoon

Yeah, you're paying Cain 21 mil he's gonna start the year in the rotation at least, doubt he lasts though.

For Brewers, it's weird they traded for Shaw. Perez looked so good for them, and he was definitely moved around everywhere as a util guy, but mainly played 3B. Is Shaw really an "upgrade" at 3B for them, but maybe defensively? It's not like they really have an OF spot for him, so it's very weird what they'll do with that "Platoon"

eh. it's hard to put much stock in a guy like perez who's a dog to get a .300 OBP for 162 games. not like shaw is much better but at least he put up a .325 OBP vs RHP. i would expect it's perez v LHP and shaw vs RHP with shaw being a contingency plan at 1b in case thames is a dud

also perez takes over LF if they trade braun

also i don't think cain starting is a given at all. i agree that he's the favorite to start the season #5 and the giants have said as much but we'll see

Agree although his achievable best case seems like .260/.360 with 20 homers and like 65-70 R/RBI? League either needs to be pretty deep, or something with OBP and daily lineups that I can shift him in and out to be an asset.
