If you can get a top 25 player (anyone .. I don't really care who) for $30-$35 in your auction you gotta do it. You'd have $189 to spend which has to be a huge advantage
You got any better options than Nola at $5? Hes clearly not getting saves or holds, and on the Phillies prob no wins either. He's not terrible or anything but just wondering if you got any other decent options
I think you guys are overestimating the quality and quantity of talent that is getting thrown back into the draft in a keeper league. If you trade Harper, there's 0 chance to draft anyone with near his production regardless of how much auction $$ you have to spend.
I think it's a lot better to lock up the elite players and then find the bargains in the draft, than the other way around. Obv its ideal to keep some of both, but I prefer keeping the talent even if its at a cost closer to market value (Harper is nowhere near market value in this case).
Also, Harper at 35 carries a very very similar amount of excess value as Sano at $1. If you don't believe look at the projections and run the numbers.
For example last year Harper was worth well over $70 in my OBP league. Sano would have to return like $35 (or more) to break even.
