Hmm... just noticed you only have 3 Goalie Categories. I think we really need to have either W or Saves as well.

Also, I know it is a crapshoot, but GWG is fun to have as well on the players side.

Forgot to add that playoffs should probably end Week 25 instead of 24. This gives us an extra week to battle it in an already shortened regular season. For some reason the Yahoo season ends super early(Week 25 ends April 13), but the NHL schedule shows games going to April 27.

Ya, the goalie counting stats are a good counter to sitting goalies with high SV%/GAA on the week.

I had both SV and SH% but removed the former when Khaos suggested we take out SH%. Don't have a problem with SV but we'll need to add another offensive category, I don't want to get too goalie heavy since everything but SV% kind of blows.

I don't really want a faceoff stat that's not a percentage and hits blow because of inconsistent scoring, so we could add Pts or GWG I suppose.

Either that or just replace SHO with SV and roll with it.

Also, I'm going to randomize the divisions via the random.org list randomizer once everyone joins to eliminate random runhot resulting from signing up late.

Keep posting scoring/format suggestions ITT, I just kind of clicked on what I thought seemed cool when I set up the league.

FYI it is possible to randomize through Yahoo now. Under commish tool you can select randomize draft now. It also keeps note of it in the commish log as well, so nobody can complain.

Yea, I'll let Yahoo randomize the draft order; I just meant randomize which teams are in which division since the schedule will seemingly be unbalanced and when you sign up has a direct correlation to who you play.

Anybody else prefer wins over saves? It just works better with the other goalie stats as opposed to saves where a lot of meh goalies on weak teams would suddenly become viable options.

As for blocked shots being a category, I suppose it's fine but how consistent are arena scorers tracking this from rink to rink? It's obviously less subjective than hits, but these scorers in general are pretty brutal at everything and might skew the results if left in their hands.

Both wins and saves select for goalies who play a lot of games (generally going to be good goalies). Wins can select for bad goalies on good teams. I'm not sure if saves really gets that many meh goalies. Mediocre goalies are more likely to be in a 1A/1B situation.

Even though there is bias with blocked shots, I like having an extra skater stat to make sure goalie stats aren't too heavily weighted.

Yeah, saves should select goalies who play a lot and should help even out the disparity a bit more than wins I think. If you've got a goalie on a bad team that's getting peppered, he'll at least rack up a bunch of saves whereas he wouldn't get many wins, skewing Ws toward the top-tier goalies in a deep league.

Re: blocks, sure there's bias in 1-week samples, but I'm guessing it's +/- 1-2 blocks per game and won't matter too much. I don't really like using anything else, and blocks should in theory reward defensemen and defensive-minded forwards who might not rack up boxcars.

I'm screwed. I won't be able to make the draft. I PMed Cwice to find a sub. Worst case scenario I will autodraft and pay the $100, but I would obviously rather find a sub.

Cwice PMed me earlier. I think he has it figured out. Sorry if I screwed anything up. Damn time zones and work getting in the way!

Aside from a lapse in judgment regarding Daniel Sedin (thought he was a couple years younger) with my first round pick I like how my team turned out. My defense is a bit suspect though, a couple of the guys I really wanted got sniped right before I picked. That seemed to happen a lot in this draft, you bastards.

lol, ya, we seemed to be on the same strategy for players. I sniped yours, then you would snipe mine the next round. I think we both really wanted Neal to fall.

The Neal snipe really pissed me off, lol. He's a monster in fantasy hockey with the way he racks up SOG and PIMs along with traditional stats. Same with Byfuglien who I was also pretty MAD got sniped.

Also, in case anybody missed it, we all agreed that we keep up to 8 players from year to year.

Someone want to do me a solid and tell me how the lineup setting works? Do you set a lineup for a week or adjust every day? Is there a limit to games or how does that work?

It isn't intuitive to figure out on yahoo...

Lineup changes are set to daily as opposed to weekly. I don't believe there are any GP caps, as that is more of a setting for roto leagues.
