There are four teams worth of free agent talent aren't there?

My team is just too nice.

Some housekeeping and rules discussion:

We still need four more teams to sign up. I'm going to set the deadline for previous owners to re-join as Friday, September 20. I'm also going to set this as the PayPal payment deadline. This gives us a week to fill the remaining teams and make any last-second roster trades/adjustments before our keeper deadline, which I set as Saturday, September 28. Our draft is currently set for Monday, September 30 at 8:15 ET.

The draft order is as following:

1. Khaos4k - Bay St. Bankers
2. holmfries - Peter's North Stars
3. Wallypop - Eric Lindros' Brain
4. dia - Graz 99ers
5. ovie - ovie
6. DontDoItPls - Neal Before Me
7. El Rata - Habsolute Ownage
8. aislephive - The Sidney Crosbys Suck
9. nutshot2/Vagos - Flyers > Rangers, Bruins
10. cwicemvp12 - Citizen Kane
11. easternbloc - Holtbeast
12. PatInTheHat - Pimpin' Ain't Parise

The first pick is awarded to the winner of the consolation bracket each season, and the subsequent picks are set using the NHL style of draft ordering.

Possible Rules Amendments:

There was a lot of talk last year about the minimum number of goalie starts per week, which was set at four for the season. With the schedule less condensed this year, I figure we'll drop that number to three.

There was also some opposition to saves as a goalie category, the argument being that it would favor the team with the most starts. I personally was a fan of the saves category over wins, since wins can select for bad goalies on good teams whereas saves selects for the better goaltender since they'll be playing more often. I would not be opposed to adding wins as a goalie category, but wouldn't like it to be at the expense of removing saves.

Reading back through the thread, there was also some talk about two week playoff match-ups, but as of now I don't see a way that this would be feasible through Yahoo's settings.

If you have an additional suggestion re: stat categories, please post it here.

What are your thoughts on goalie categories?

Also,

I have traded (C) Nazem Kadri to Holtbeast aka Brouwer Rangers for a 2nd round draft pick.

Pavelski, Plekanec, and CRAIG ANDERSON still on the block.

Still unsure. Adding another goalie category tips the balance of the league in favor of teams with strong goaltending so if we did that we'd have to add another stat or two for skaters to compensate.

Thinking more about it I think using saves instead of wins is fine, and I don't see a pressing need to change any of the other settings either, though reducing GP requirements for goalies is fine I suppose.

My vote is for wins category over saves.

The draft is next monday. A list of who has and hasn't committed to this season would be nice though, as well as everybody's list of keepers.

AdamSchwartz took our 11th team and I should have an owner for the last team very shortly. We'll have the keepers finalized ASAP once each team is signed up.

Gonna have to miss the draft tonight. Does the auto-pick pick by need, or does it just follow the list and leave me with an unbalanced team?

I probably can't make the draft either and am hoping co-manager can draft. Can we set a queue?

LOL I likely will miss it as well, or at least the first half of it.

I have my brother on stand by though, so hopefully he can do better than autodraft.

Also missing it. Expecting a fleury of trades to start off the season to try and get ourselves a balanced roster. Yahoo is bad at rankings, and has no clue about draft strategy.

Am I crazy or did Yahoo take away the option to click a button and start all your players with games for that day?

Wouldn't surprise me. The new yahoo iinterface blows.

Was pretty pumped to see they finally updated the app today. So much easier to use than their website.

Pretty sure that we have Howard and he is expendable. Send some offers.
