Post here if you're interested in starting a dynasty hockey league with a bunch of roster spots, a bunch of keepers, and a bunch of fun.

I'd like 12 franchises and NHL regs to get priority, but we'll figure that out based on interest. Also, post about your desired buy-in (I'm thinking $100), roster format, and scoring categories. We started a league with bonsaltron (lol) before he went AWOL and it was pretty fun, so I'll see if I can't find those threads and pick out the good things.

In.

Is it possible to use League Safe as escrow? Safest for everyone IMO.

I'm cool with fw becoming sog, just keep it at an odd number of categories obviously.

Don't know anything about that. I was going to offer to escrow but if Schwartz wants in or would be willing to do it, that would be fine IMO.

Agree with this or prefer sog replace hits. Hits category is a completely crap shoot IMO.

Leaguesafe is essentially just a third party site that holds the money for the league. Everyone pays their league fees through leaguesafe. You as commish allocate payouts at the end of the season and then league votes to accept your allocation with a majority vote required to release the funds . The only fees are withdrawal fees which range from $1.5 to $7 depending on the method you choose.

This way nobody in the league holds the money and there are no worries for anyone. Anyways I think it is worth looking into if you aren't familiar with it, but a trusted escrow is fine by me as well.

Some crapshoot categories (I'm looking at you +/-) are good.

The keeper league that I'm in is awesome 14 teams 25 roster spots + prospects. Deeeeeeep. I can dig up the rules if it helps this one.

I propose:

1) Rosters: Start 4 C, 4 LW, 4 RW, 6 D, 2 G and 4 forward, 1 G bench spot.
2) Scoring: G, A, P, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG, SH%, GAA, SV%, SO
3) Lineup changes: Daily
4) Add/Drop: Whenever, possibly with a transaction fee.
5) Trades: League votes, w/ a trade deadline though
6) Playoffs: Perhaps only 4/12 unless we get 14 and we could do 8/14
7) Keepers: Keep up to 8 players per league, gain a pick at the beginning of the draft based on previous year's standings if you keep less.

Head-to-head or roto?

Also, the deeper we go, the more important having pims and hits is, adds value to 3rd and 4th liners.

Definitely Head-to-head. Also.... isn't Dynasty usually you keep the entire roster, the only roster changes are trades, waiver pick up/drops and an annual rookie draft?

I'm fine if you want to limit the add/drops but I think we should at least draft some portion of the roster every year. That way people who finish last have incentives to improve.

FYI, I have an IRL friend interested as to possibly help us get to 14 teams and have a better playoff system.

I'm down for anything at $100. Don't feel like nitting about the format.

regarding one of the points above. i think this would be more aptly named a keeper league. a dynasty league would be exactly what dontdoitpls said. i probably would NOT be in for that, but would certainly be in for a keeper league. (keep x amount of players at whatever round they're drafted in.)

its also infinitely simpler to organize keeper leagues, and you're much less likely to lose GMs.

Fair enough. I'd like the turnover from year-to-year to have more of a keeper element, though maybe we can limit add/drops to 2-3/month to give it more of a dynasty feel.

So how many keepers? I actually prefer keeper over dynasty as well.

Also, I assume we will have consolation bracket winner gets 1st pick overall next year? This ensure nobody gives up.

I'd like 6-8 keepers/20 starters. Sounding more and more like we'll have to do an offline draft next year, which will be fine if we just want to make a thread and draft that way.

Why offline? Yahoo allows you do assign keepers and the remaining players are then left to draft.
