First draft of the year, drafted from the 2 spot in a reasonably soft 12-man No-PPR 1QB,1flex league:

QB - Newton
RB - Bell, Ajayi, Kerryon Johnson, Aaron Jones, Peterson, Wilkins, Breida
WR - D. Adams, AJ Green, Cooper, Hogan, Robinson, Watkins
TE - Burton

The league went RB-heavy early. At the turn (picks 23, 26) the best RBs available were Mixon/Drake/Collins but I liked Adams and AJG too much. Maybe I should've gone Royce Freeman instead of Cooper at pick 50? Not sure.. Thoughts?

Wtf your receivers are absurd lol. I mean your RBs besides Bell aren’t ideal obv, but you should be able to use some of those WRs to fix that problem at some point if neither of Ajayi and Johnson work out. And there is a reasonable chance one of them returns rb2 value anyway. Even if they do you could prob use them and the WR depth to get another stud RB at some point and just smash everyone.

Cooper is better value there by a decent amount I think, no way to know you’d be able to get those other WRs (esp if everyone was going hard at RB), so can’t fault you for that one.

Nice job.

Seems to me like how good your team is will depend mostly on Henry. If he tears it up, you'll be great, if he is mediocre, you could have some rough times given your weak RB depth. Hopefully a couple of your WR's go off early and you can make some trades to shore that up, then I think you'll be fine.
It is a $1k, non ppr, yahoo pro league.

This was my first draft this year and I was shocked at how much people overpaid for RBs and ignored WR. Like I knew I’d have to overpay for Gurley, but then Zeke abs DJ went for $70+ and Kamara and Saquon went for 65+. So would have loved a better RB but it didn’t seem feasible. I mean Marshawn Lynch went for $20 and I basically had my choice of $2 WR at the end. Unfortunate no one trades in Pro Leagues so I’ll probably to secure a high waiver and get the first RB that turns to gold post an injury.

Have another auction this Sunday should be interesting.

I thought yahoo pros were now .5 ppr. Is there an option for standard?

I just looked and I cant find the actual settings anywhere.
Everything about Pro Leagues on Yahoos site that I can find just says they are "standard default settings". You'd think Yahoo would publish the settings so they are easy to see on the main page where you sign up to join the league, but nope, Yahoo Fantasy is run by idiots.

Fwiw they've always been non-ppr 2rb/3wr in the past

That no flex spot seems pretty stupid.

From yahoo:

"This year you will notice a different look when you log into Yahoo Fantasy Football. We listened to what you had to say and made the following changes to our default settings for the upcoming season to create an even better experience:

1. We’re moving to a half-point-per-reception as the scoring standard

2. There will be a FLEX position, replacing a third receiver spot in your lineup

This will be the configuration for Public and Pro Leagues"

I hate league that have only 5 total rb/wr start. It increases the value of studs too much and reduces skill in drafting and roster management. When I become president the first thing I will do is to make it illegal to have so few starting positions.

Ha so maybe I'm the idiot!
Where did you find that? I spent 20 minutes searching around Yahoo and never came across that info.

Yeah, it's not exactly in the main fantasy area, I just searched for the default settings for yahoo and found that.

Yeah, it seems like the rake comes off of 3rd place, so as long as you don't finish there, you're good!

YPL auction draft 10 team .5PPR QB 2 WR 2 RB TE Flex

Ended up with

QB
WR Thomas/Jeffrey/Arob/Tate/Jones Jr (misclick)/Moore/A miller
RB Gordon/Collins/Michel/Anderson/Barber/Powell
TE Gronk
DEF DEN
K

I missed on a lot of guys I wanted. I could've had Cook cheaper than Gordon. A bunch of the guys I wanted as "bargains" late were snatched up by the same two people who spent 0 money in the beginning and have less studs than I do. Decided not to get a QB-should've spent the Jones money on someone but I'm fine streaming. Didn't get a K either. I don't hate it, but it feels like a whole lot of "meh"

Kinda agree with you on the "meh", but I imagine you're in the top half. Not terrible. Melvin/Collins/Thomas/Tate/Gronk is a fine core. Nice flex options.

How much $$ did you pay for Gronk?

I don't get it; are the payouts still 50%/30%/10% ??

$30/$200, felt like that was the best bargain I got the entire auction. Wanted to get Burton and flip Gronk but he went for like $10 lol

Just finished a draft in a 10-man .5 PPR keeper league. I was one of the add-on teams from what was an 8-team PPR keeper so as part of a keeper draft I got Barkley, Allen and Adams.

Team:

QB - Luck
RB - Barkley, Collins, Lewis, T. Coleman, Breida, Foreman
WR - Allen, Adams, Sanders, Watkins, K. Benjamin, Ross, Miller
TE - Reed
K - Elliott
D - Denver

Planning on wheeling and dealing for an RB upgrade although I'm not too unhappy with where I'm at tbh. Thoughts on present and going forward?

Looks decent. I'm not in love with having Luck as my qb in a 10 teamer, but I assume the wire has some decent options if he's washed so prob not too bad. Also not in love with Collins as my rb2 in this spot, but I know a lot of people are higher on him than I am. I just don't see his ceiling being very high.

I'm team Sanders/Reed so I like those spots, but depth just seems meh to me overall, not too bad though. I do like Miller a good amount and I suppose Ross could do some stuff. WR is def strong overall and could be a solid source for said wheeling and dealing.

I'd have preferred if you picked at least one higher upside guy with the Collins/Lewis/Coleman picks, but if things break right for one of them, Barkley lives up to the hype, and the gambles on Luck and Reed pay off, then I think you can contend. A bit too many ifs to be in love with it though.

Foreman is on PUP so don't think he is rosterable at this point, esp in a 10 teamer.

Here's one from tonight that I almost certainly made some mistakes in. 12 team standard 2rb/3wr from the 5 spot. Any thoughts appreciated.

1. (5) Antonio Brown (Pit - WR) - Considered Fournette/Kamara, but I think you gotta go Brown here

2. (20) Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE) - CMac was still there and I was extremely tempted, have them back to back in my ranks...also where I would've had to have taken Tyreek

3. (29) Stefon Diggs (Min - WR) - Mixon was the best rb option, Baldwin and Theilen also on the board.

4. (44) Lamar Miller (Hou - RB) - Hogan/Gordon/ARob available at WR, Ajayi/Drake/Freeman other RBs still there. In hindsight maybe should've went with one of the WRs here.

5. (53) Royce Freeman (Den - RB) - Drake still there, all those WRs I was considering last round got taken. Sanders next in my ranks WR-wise, Goodwin/C. Davis/Crowder next WRs picked.

6. (68) Rex Burkhead (NE - RB) - Was between Rex and Emmanuel Sanders, trying to decide which one was more likely to make it back...I guessed wrong. Another one I kinda regret going with the RB. Kerryon Johnson and Carlos Hyde next couple RBs picked.

7. (77) Alshon Jeffery (Phi - WR) - Not sure what to make of his injury, but this seemed like an ok time to gamble. Woods/Watkins/Garcon/Agholor/Fuller next WRs picked.

8. (92) Jamaal Williams (GB - RB) - I've warmed up to him as draft season has gone on, picking an already injured RB is not something I'm a huge fan of though. Cohen/Crowell/Michel picked after.

9. (101) Randall Cobb (GB - WR) - Another injured guy to back up my injured WR3 wtf am I doing?

10. (116) Ben Roethlisberger (Pit - QB) - Ok 4 people have picked backup qb's, I guess it's time.

11. (125) Andrew Luck (Ind - QB) - Ugh, haven't drafted him at all, but I usually likr to backup Ben if I end up with him and Goff/Alex Smith/Derek Carr were next best options so maybe worth?

12. (140) Tyler Eifert (Cin - TE) - Double sniped on Bilal and AP panic pick. Why do I keep picking injured dudes? Could've had someone like Godwin or DJ Moore or Anthony Miller. Wilkins/Clement/Gio for RBs.

13. (149) John Brown (Bal - WR) - Might as well add a blood disorder to my list of concerns.

14. (164) Keelen Cole (Jax - WR) - Had just seen that Lee had been carted off with a knee injury. Probably should've taken Lee to fit in with my roster more.

15. (173) Pittsburgh (Pit - DEF) - Browns week 1.

16. (188) Dez Bryant (Dal - WR) - Yolo?

Ben/Luck
Miller/Freeman/Burkhead/J. Williams
Antonio/Diggs/Alshon/Cobb/J. Brown/Cole/Dez
Gronk/Eifert
Lol K
Pitt

Thanks! I appreciate the reply.

Given the players that were picked/rostered by the time I was at my Collins pick he seemed like the best option in the moment. Royce Freeman went in the first round for frame of reference (not counting keepers). Pretty much the same situation for Lewis/Coleman. I felt like I was a bit handcuffed all day given the players that were already kept and the reaches some of the other drafters made. This is a new format for me as I've always done redraft so was just seeing where I was at. I feel good about my team but not great for the reasons you mentioned. Treating this as a building year even though I think I have an outside shot at contending for playoffs. Cheers.

12 team 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1FLEX 1K 1DEF 6BENCH
Standard scoring (0 PPR)
QB TD 5 pts, QB INT -1 pt

Which drafts do you like up to this point? This is sort of a soft league (as you can see from team 1).

6 seems best thus far (until the Luck pick at least). 12 isn’t terrible I guess.

Drafted from the 7 slot out of 12 in a 1 PPR, 3 WR 1 flex league

QB - Rivers
RB - Saquon, LeSean, Rex Burkhead, Carlos Hyde, Latavius Murray, John Kelly
WR - Davante, JuJu, Robert Woods, Agholor, Keelan Cole, Tyrell Williams
TE - Jordan Reed
Def - Baltimore

Got sniped on a few picks, wanted Emmanuel in the 5th over Burkhead but felt a little uneasy with LeSean in case something happens. Drafted Hyde also for same reason but I thought he was good value and depth where I got him

All of the teams that picked qb in the first 10 rounds did not do well, this format makes waiting on qb even more important.

8 understood not to take a qb, but didn't take good enough players.

5 looks the best to me.
