Yo should we start the dialogue now about if we have to keep a kicker and D through the offseason or not and IR spots and all that jazz? I feel like if we get this right now we'll have it all set by the time week 16 comes along and we all head into the offseason.

im fine getting rid of kickers, i like keeping defenses.

and fine no matter what in terms of # of players, if we need 2 cut deadlines, etc., as long as there's enough notice ahead of time with clear deadlines.

It's not getting rid of kickers so much as agreeing on how offseason rosters need to be made up. Some people hold a kicker, some people drop them to get an extra skill position. All of us doing the same thing would be ideal.

I think the other contentious issue was using the IR spot in the offseason, vs not. 21 vs 20 into the offseason. I don't care which provided it's agreed upon.

I think my vote for now is probably

-people can not take a kicker into offseason if they want, or not. We don't police.
-20 offseason. No IR spot in the offseason.

My votes;

- No rule on forcing a kicker stash. Should be up to the owner.
- No IR in the off-season. Rosters must be locked after week 16, and you should need to reduce to 20 by then.

If you go this route, teams competing week 16 will need some time to make final moves after week 16.

i would sooner say like, X days after week 17. no reason not to allow for another waiver period after the last game if there are any injuries and what not

What is the reason why we can’t carry the IR spots into the offseason? Is it because we have to have the roster at 20 and then we can put someone on IR?

Yeah good point about kickers. But I guess if you had the privilege of being in week 16, you can probably carry your kicker into the offseason?

IR spot was always meant to help lessen the blow of an in-season injury. Imho it makes more sense to call this a 21 man team permanently than it does to have an IR spot used off-season.

So on that note my vote is either 20 men into the offseason, or we finally just call it at 21 man team with no IR.

I'm not sure, I'm not even as much concerned about claims, but more, dropping a kicker to then place your IR player on active roster. That scenario would require a day after Monday.
