This came up, I thought it was more recent but time flies I guess. If you go back in the thread it was Pecota in 2015 (3/23/2015, post #6510 to be exact).

It is not 100% clear what happened as SRM was infamously running trade auctions in the thread, but it looks like we said wait until the start of the season. Just my opinion, given the auction should really have ended days ago (no offense but people are either just slow to act or sitting on noms at this point) I think this stuff should wait for the first waiver wire run. We are approaching the point where teams could name a 5th starter or closer that could have some implications for the season.

We actually do have this written in the rules:

2) Once a player is optioned to the active roster, he may not be optioned back to the minors for the rest of the season. The player can only be placed back on the minor league roster if he breaks training camp at the beginning of the next season in the minors or as a minor league free agent IRL (this option may only be exercised after the FA auction has been completed).

Unrelated, I just noticed that we never removed the minor league floor provision from the rules, so that's an edit that needs to be made, since we got rid of that in practice.

ESPN rosters are loaded, just need to finalize these last few players in auction and Ill submit. So hopefully by tomorrow the league will be up and ready. With that said, season starts awkwardly on a Thursday this year 3-29. Being that we moved pretty quick with our drafts, what are thoughts on starting the first free agent run 3-25 (in 7 days), Sunday as usual?

Typically we used to have first waivers the night before season starts I believe.

EPSN is up and loaded.

Please don't try and make any pickup(s) tonight, waivers will start next Sunday 3-25. If anyone accidentally makes a move today it will be reversed.

Also, the free agent money can possibly be off. There were a lot of $4 players that only went for $1. I tried to incorporate that into the current FA money, but its not official until after the spreadsheet is finished. So in other words, its everyones responsibility to know their own FA budget, bid accordingly.

Sunday before 3/29 seems like the most logical option. I am worried that some teams may not make their final minor league assignments until the last minute though, which would prevent some people from making waiver transactions.

For instance, I'm 99% sure that Dominic Smith is headed to the minors, but I'm not sure when they'll announce it.

I'm in the same boat with Mondesi. And we probably all have someone who will be opening up the season on the DL and teams are notoriously slow to do that too

I'm fine with either the 25th or the 1st. Whatever you all want to do.

If given the choice, I'm actually leaning toward the 1st now.

The season opens on the 29th, so that's only four days of games in between. With the auction ending so recently, I'd figure people are pretty set on their starting lineups to begin with. Not a big deal though, either date is ok in the end.

I guess teams are still in the process of finalizing their 25 man rosters?

If Mondesi stays on the MLB active roster or is put on the MLB DL I am freebie cutting him prior to the start of the season. If he is optioned to AAA before their 4:15 PM game I'd like to move him to the minors.
