As soon as all teams join it will start. Any team can nominate 2 players at a time, which can be increased later if we want it.

The software will allow you to make $1 bids ($1=$100,000), but our league minimum is $4 ($400,000) so please cooperate. Also make sure that any re-bid you make is at least 10% bigger than the previous one.

Also there rookies/minor leaguers available to be nominated, but they are ineligible for our free agent auction, so don't nominate them.

The prorated thing still doesn't make sense. Should't it be half of 15% of 10 mil in that example?

Also, what's the plan for keeping track of the prorated salary thing? Seems like it would be hard to automate and cumbersome to police. I agree with the people who want to expand the in-season cap and get rid of the prorated cap hits.

Yea i didn't touch the prorate part of the rules because i wasn't sure what we had agreed on. I'm fine with abandoning that part altogether and going with all contracts guaranteed and if you dont have cap room you're just effed. and an improvement on that is

I think that can be done, though it'd little bit of leg work by the commish. if he's up for it i think this is prob the best way to go.

also just alloting $X automatically for free agents also works and i'd be cool with, but then we're just kinda idiotproofing the league. if owners want to blast off their whole budget on the first auction they should prob be allowed.

so does that mean if I drop player A who is making 500K, he goes for an $2 mil in a waiver auction, I am on the hook for $2mil instead of 500K? I don't like that rule at all. Too easy to abuse where a team with some cap space can use to just screw over the team dropping the player. If think it should be either original salary, or min of (original salary, waiver auction salary).

no it'd mean you're not on the hook for anything.

you are on the hook for (the players salary) - (his new salary).

Say you drop a player making $2m. He gets picked up for $400,000. $1.6M still counts against your salary cap.

and i think it'd make sense to cap it so that you don't gain cap space if the player signs for more than you used to pay him. (Cut player making $1M, he signs for $2M, you don't have $101M to work with now)

I personally havn't used CBS's software before so i don't know what they're capable of. we should prob wait till Karak gets that set up and sees what we can do w/ their system to decide how to deal w/ Adding/Dropping player contracts. obviously looking to be fair, realistic, and easily implemented.

It'll start as soon as everyone joins the auction room that I have yet to send out. Could certainly be Monday if everyone checks their PMs at some point tomorrow.
