fwiw, I just took a close look at Verlander and don't think he's turning it around. His velo is the same, his K/9 way down, his BB/9 doubled, hitters are swinging less and making contact more. He hasn't even been unlucky with HR/FB or BABIP. Think some analytics departments crunched some numbers and figured some things out after he took them all by surprise last year.

The fact that his velo is the same is promising, but definitely a bit worrisome. Hitters are actually fouling off a lot more pitches though it seems this year

Not sure he'll reach enough eligiblity to get 2B next year, but it could be close. Might be worth trading for Rizzo if you can get fair value since most people don't realize he'll gain the eligibility (esp if you need 2B help)

not close imo. MI has lost value in recent years due to the sheer number of solid bats at those positions. Trout is Trout.

Between him and Flores right now off the waiver for me. Flores just got starting 3B position and he covers the entire infield; really good for depth.
