$10 Guillotine League, ESPN. Starts Week 5. Draft Saturday - Page 2 - Fantasy Sports -- Two Plus Two Poker Forums

Def interested in running this again next year (maybe for some more $ and maybe with a discount on my buy-in so it's more worth my time given the manual work required - though I do enjoy running it!). The biggest thing I am struggling with right now is how to expand it to a full season. Here's my thoughts so far -

If we had started on Week 1, we would need 18 teams in the current format. I really like the SuperFlex aspect of it since when we get down to the final 4 teams I didn't want only 4 QBs to be owned. Could SuperFlex + 18 teams cause an issue? I'm not sure - there would certainly be an extremely high demand for QBs. Maybe in that format, I would drop QB Passing TDs to 4 points so that QBs aren't so valuable.

I want there to be some degree of skill involved at the end, and that's why I went with larger rosters and a 4-team final. I think smaller rosters and a 2-team final would be more of a crapshoot and would marginalize the process of accumulating top players from waivers throughout the season.

I would definitely play again, and I would be willing to do a buy in larger than $10. Maybe $25-$50 with additional payouts. Maybe pay out 70% to 1st, 20% to 2nd and 10% to 3rd.

I kind of like the way we did it this year. It was fun having a few weeks of clarity on the season, and then doing the draft. I think 14 is the perfect number.

You can bid $0 and win a player that way if no one else bids (or you win the tiebreaker). If waivers clear with no bids then player becomes a free agent.

Love this format. Wouldn't care if it was higher dollar or more teams next year. Actually wouldn't even care if there were smaller benches next year to truly force everyone to waivers every week

Click on 'Players' tab, then click on 'Free Agent Auction Summary'.

If you click on the tab next to it 'Free Agent Auction Report' you can see the carnage of losing bids

On the phone app, if you go to league info, the middle tab has auction info. That shows all of the remaining FAAB.

So turns out the "Resets each week to inverse order of standings" played a big role this week in me scooping up Allen and DThomas. Oops. Hopefully doesn't become a recurring issue. Next year we will def set FAAB to $1,000 to reduce likelihood of ties.

I am more excited to see who got eliminated and what you all bid on your waivers than I am of any of the leagues I'm in.... I'm addicted to following a $10 fantasy league I have no financial interest in.

Yeah, feel like I wasted $10 on Geronimo and Keenum. But I wanted a QB to start this week (because it's stupid not to in the OP slot), and I think Allison going to be GB's #2. I guess I should have trusted the $2-$3 would get it done.

Definitely fun feeling this out in my first year of doing it. Every Tuesday is a stressful day between my 3 leagues lol.

Trying to figure out the calculus of an equation where total $ in circulation decreases weekly, your $ to spend decreases weekly but the true value of the items to purchase increases weekly.

Then add in your necessity to avoid being the lowest score every week. It's nuts; might only do this type of league going forward.

As a GB homer I know I am likely biased, but I love me some Geronimo. Not because I think he has a lot of talent but because I think he’s better than Cobb & the rookies and that means he has value. I’m shocked he only went for $6.

And I agree on Allison. He could be a really good fill in for bye weeks if he stays healthy.

I guess my $10 doesn’t look terrible when putting it into perspective. Fuller went off for me tonight, so that’s a nice start to the week.

I still have $66 in my budget.
