How many fours of diamonds are in this deck?
Assuming you have a different pair of fours in your hand, calling on the flop might be better than raising because you don't have many hands to balance with on this board that greatly favours the PFR's range. In addition, bottom set might not be doing spectacularly well against the range that continues when facing a flop check-raise. Villain is probably likely to barrel many turns where you'll have more strong hands and bluffs, so there might be more EV in waiting till the turn. I can't say what the best turn play will be without seeing the turn card. On some turns, leading, check-calling or check-raising could all be appropriate.
EDIT: I just tried picking some random turn cards. On quite a few of them, Snowie says BTN should overbet 2x pot. That would be good for you.
