Why do HSNL regs have a calling range vs 4b?

In a 100bb effective stack, I thought we should just shove or fold over a 4b?
Because they're doing it, I'm sure it's +EV to do so.

Re: Why do HSNL regs have a calling range vs 4b?

Some hands make more money as flats than as 5-bets or folds. This is especially true if villain's 4-bet is small, since then the price you're getting means you don't have to win very often to make calling>folding.
e.g If you 3-bet to 12bb with AQs in the SB and villain in CO 4-bets to 26bb, the pot odds will be 39:14, meaning you only need to win 26.4% of the time to make calling better than folding. In that situation, you're getting the right price even if villain's range is QQ+, as AQs has 27% equity vs that range. If villain has some 4-bet bluffs (e.g. weaker Ax), then clearly it's profitable to see a flop with some of your hands that do badly vs villain's stack off range, but that do OK vs his 4-bet range.

If villain's 4-bet is much bigger, or his 4-bet range is much stronger (no bluffs), then obviously you shoudn't call so often.
