Poker is full of vague concepts like "playability", "implied odds" or "drawing potential". I wanted a way to visualize this.

This matrix represents your equity against X amount of players with random cards. The numbers themselves aren't interesting, the way the overall gradient changes is what I'm really after. As we add more players, the shape of the gradient changes. Hands with better implied odds, that can draw to something strong, retain more equity.

By tweaking the implied odds, the equity gradient will often resemble GTO ranges. For example, here's a BTN opening the top 43% of hands:



Naturally, the next step was to import the hand order into a solver to get a smooth visual as we expand and contract the range.

The most fascinating part for me was that this simple equity gradient method works against other ranges as well. For example, here's BB defend vs UTG open (GTO Wizard 500NL), and an equity gradient vs 3 identical UTG opens:
