How critical is it to study combos for each players' range in a given configuration? For example, should I be able to look at a board and ballpark how many nutted combos each player has, how many pairs, draws, air etc?

I think it’s more about the portions of the range that take different actions and how they earn ev.

It’s good to be able to visualize a pokerstove grid and what your opponents range looks like on it. If you can get that part right, combo counting will start to come naturally for many people.

FlopzillaPro and GTO+ will familiarize you with combos quite nicely, especially if you're a visual learner.

Yes. This would be the best alternative piece of software to use. Power Equilab is especially good when dealing with 3 or more ranges.
