IP both in srp & 3bp on pretty much all boards, PIO likes to cbet ~80-95% using a 1/3pot size (which should be simplified into 100% freq w/ only a negligible ev loss).

When OOP, are they also just simplifying their strat since the ev loss is negligible (compared to having a betting/checking range)?

I am certain they don't do it on all boards.

And if they do, it's because they are playing against someone who doesn't play well against that strategy.

they may use different sizings and have some checks on some wet flops (which can be the same IP), but on pretty much all boards they do range bet for small sizing OOP (like IP)

i've seen LLinus do it against OtB and vice-versa and pretty much all other good reg vs good reg battles

It used to be more of an exploit than anything. When you bet that small IP is forced to float ridiculously wide with all sorts of speculative backdoor hands. Hands that you normally wouldn't think twice about folding become mandatory defends.

Nowadays though I imagine most regs know that they need to defend wide so it's probably lost a lot of the effectiveness it had. And no, high stakes players definitely don't just bet range OOP for 1/3rd. They have check and big bet ranges on most boards.

yes i agree that they don't always range bet OOP for 1/3pot, however, if you rail 200-500z and HS games, you'll see range bet more often than other sizing w/ bet/check OOP

anyway, i appreciate your feedback guys and I already found out the reason why they did this through MMAsherdog's stream

I’ve been studying mathematics of poker by bill chen and I will say that a big takeaway from that is that BETTING IS WINNING and BETTING MORE IS WINNING MORE. More can mean bet size or bet frequency
