Is everyone assuming that the opponents play well? Because when they don't it is obviously better to sometimes limp against certain types of players.

Yes, I can definitely see myself limping J9s or A6s UTG in a loose live game.

limping is a great strategy in a lot of situations, why would you not use every poker rule to your advantage, open limping the button is going to net a profit with almost any hand, albeit a very small one, so it's a winning strategy

if you have KTs OTB or better, it's probably a guaranteed profit to limp, then you can add a full range of hands just to that spot and you have limping ranges, i like to raise there because i take risks but you can limp that hand and it's easy money, you win

think about it, KTs is a slight loser to raise the blinds from the button, and a slight winner to limp, so i guess that should silence the doubters

Limping with KK on the button in a tourney at say 13BBs might not be so bad. An aggressive reg in the blinds may jam over you from the blinds looser than they'd call a jam.
