Trying to get my head round some theory.

Running a solver and after range betting a dry flop and a backdoor flush draw comes on the turn, e.g. J 7 3 2

In terms of gutshots the solver likes betting again where one of the hands is a but less so when we don't have one. So it's betting A 4 but checking A 4 . It likes betting all A5o hands at some frequency but the frequency is a good bit higher where one of the cards is a

The above also applies to other non made hands as well such as Q9o, K8o etc

Is the reason for this due to us having a blocker to backdoor flush draws that may continue?

It's probably a combination of blocking backdoor flush draws and straight draws in villain's range and an intersecting with backdoor bluffs in hero's range. I am guessing it uses some of them to balance river betting ranges when draws complete so holding cards that would be in hero's value betting range has advantages.

I have a loose theory that with draws the aggression frequency, or bets/(folds+calls) is somehow proportional to to the profitability of the plays.

In other words, the more profitable my options are with hands that require a mixed strategy, the more likely I am to be taking an aggressive line.

I think the low frequency bluffs with particularly weak draws like k8o are illustrative of this.

Also it seems that the concept of board coverage and nutty value on late streets is important.

If it's the Ah it gives you the nut flush blocker for bluffing when the flush comes in, that's pretty obvious.

With regards to the lower hearts, yes they block straights and backdoor flushes that might continue, but the real power of having say the 4h or the 9h is blocking villain's high equity check raise bluffs. Hands like 5h4h or 9h8h get check raised at a very high frequency and will absolutely murder the ev of a weak draw like A4.
