Hi All

I have been using PIO for some time now and recently have been working on getting better at EV calculations.

After all the articles and formulas on EV i have read, it seems my answer is always wrong compared to PIO which I am using to validate my calculations. Am i missing something? Or is pio using a different method to calculate EV? If so, how and why?

Hi brokenstars, Thanks for your reply!

I just use the standard EV = (W%*$W) – (L%*$L) formula.

How do you define what money you win? What about the money you lose?

e.g. when it is your big blind and you fold to a raise, you could say that you lost 1bb.

But you might also not, because the decisions begin after you put the money in the pot. So from the moment the game starts, you have put no money in and then folded, so you could also say you lost nothing.

Next step is to give a hand example, including the ranges and the pot size and bet size. Your question may be on decision theory but we need to crunch the numbers first.
