For your example, the pot after villain bet are 85. If you want to give him pot odds of 3 to 1, we have
Bet = 85/(3-1) = 42.5
Then the pot becomes 85 + 42.5 = 127.5 and he has to invest 42.5 so pot odds to him are
127.5/42.5 = 3
I dont think this is right because if he bets and i raise 42.5 more (42.5+25=67.5) then the pot is now 152.5. Which he’s getting a little more than 3:1 (3.21:1).
If i wanted to give him 2:1 according to the equation would have to be
85/(2-1)=85. So 85$ + $25 villains bet= $110. The pot would now be $195. And villain would have to call $85 more to win $195 (getting a little more than 2:1)
