I've got to the point in my poker journey where I'm getting a lot of questions that I'd really need a solver to answer, and a lot of the answers I've come to on other questions may need reassessing.

Based on pricing and reviews, GTO+ seems to be a pretty good starting point. I do have a few questions, so I was wondering if any of you kind souls would be able to help me answer them.

1) My laptop has 8GB RAM and a i5-8265U processor. How limited will I be in the solves I can run? Is this going to be an issue for SRP, deep stacked, blind vs blind?
2) If I am using a solver on my laptop, how intensive will the resource usage be? Will it be noticeable if I am doing other stuff on it (which will mainly involve having a few web browser windows open, email, and some other low resource programs as well as some word docs/simple excel docs)?
3) I've noticed that GTO+ has an option to turn card removal effects on - does this mean I can have card removal as if there were 6 players at the table (so the card removal option will remove the cards from the 4 other players at the appropriate frequency based on their preflop folding ranges)?
4) Can I set up scripts to run batches of solves, and if so, is this fairly easy?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

u wont be able to run many decent solves, i recommend you just find them around

i think card removal is just a display thing and not a solving thing, it counts combos and % of ranges differently on the display

Thanks for the reply. In terms of the laptop specs, I was a little worried about that. What sort of specs would I need to get some decent use out of the solver, I was thinking of getting a desktop in any case?

Disappointing about the card removal effects.

Depends on what you want to do, if you subscribe to some type of site where you get your sims, you will do fine with any specs.
If you want to run good sims i would shoot for 64gb+ if possible, good CPU helps getting things done faster of course

That makes sense, it was what I was expecting. I think I might start out with some of the sites with pre solved Sims. Is there any you would recommend, or recommend avoiding?

I had the same problem. On my laptop i have 2 slots for ram and i just added 16gb. Now i have 24gb and this is enough for my sims( i play HU so it will be enough for 6max too). On gto+ you can choose how many treads to use. If you want to use your laptop while you are making the sims you can choose to use fewer threads and don't use your cpu on 100%.

Good point, I hadn't considered that. And my laptop can take an extra 16GB RAM, so it is a feasible option. Thanks for the advice! Would I be able to also solve deep stacked spots?

I don't think GTO+ is scriptable. You can have it solve multiple flops though.

With 8gb and that CPU I don't think you'll be solving much. For what it's worth, I've solved and uploaded common spots here on pio's 74 flop subset that most accurately represent all 1755? flops.

BU vs BB SRP abd 3bet, SB vs BB SRP and 3bet, BU vs CO 3bet, UTG vs BU 3bet + some others that I'm forgetting. And I've solved them with a pretty deep game tree. Pretty much always have a 25%, 75%, 200% and jam size, and for non SRPs with really wide ranges I've even included multiple raise sizes.

If there's anything specific you want solved I can do it when I have the time.

Edit: ok I didn't actually answer any questions lol

You won't be able to solve BvB SRPs with that setup.

You won't be able to do much else while the solver is running assuming you let it use all cores

You can have it solve multiple flops, but I don't think you can have it solve the same spot with different bet sizes etc. which is something I'm considering buying PIO for. On the other hand, I've solved a bunch of **** with GTO+ and never actually look at the results so... maybe I'll hold off on that lol

Thanks for the feedback! I did see your post with the solves you posted - are those done in piosolver? I've downloaded one of the files as a test, do you know what software would be needed to open them, or if there is a viewer type software I can use to see them? Thanks for posting those solves, I think I'm going to download them all, even if it takes a bit of time before I get some software I can study them in.

They were done with GTO+, so I'm assuming you'd need that. IDK if the save files are compatible with PIO. They might be, someone with PIO would have to answer that.

I know GTO+ has a free sample, but it's limited to solving one flop. That being said, I wonder if they overlooked the edge case where a user opens a save file with the free trial. If that's the case, you might be able to view them with the free trial.

Also, those are in theory (some of) the most common spots in poker, so they're probably the ones you'd wanna solve anyway. Although if you're already super comfortable with those spots then maybe there are other areas you'd like to focus on that I haven't uploaded.

Edit: BTW, check the comments of that thread for more links, as I wasn't able to update the original post/comment with the new links.

Thanks a lot for making those available, I've downloaded them all, those in the comments as well. I'll probably try to download the free version of gto+ at some point this week, so I'll let you know if I'm able to open them. I would say that once I do access them, I'll have plenty to learn.

No problem, hope you enjoy! I can't really offer much advice on these forums so it's my way of contributing haha
