bb/100 in HUPLO bb/100 in HUPLO

HUPLO specialist CUMICON, who was on ACR for many years, posted his poker tracker graph and stats when he retired.

His average bb/100 (through all stakes) was 25.3, over the coarse of many years.

I know that in HUPLO specifically it is possible to have dramatic win rates, but I dont really understand why.

Until seeing CUMICON's stats I had never heard of a bb/100 win rate like that.

What is it about HUPLO that makes this kind of win rate possible? Is it because PLO is so high variance: if you can get on the right side of that variance the win rates are dramatically higher than NL?

I think it's very easy to have a ton of small leaks in HU PLO that essentially go unnoticed because of the variance. In HUNL, if you construct your ranges poorly and are getting exploited in a particular spot, it's much easier to figure out what's happening. There is a lot more room for error in deciphering where a particular hand is in your range, and what exactly you should be doing with that part of your range in PLO. It's super easy for a player to be bleeding off a couple bb/100 in a bunch of different spots.

Cumicon wasn't a bum hunter. He'd hold the mid-high stakes HU tables on a bunch of sites and take on all comers pretty much. But regs weren't exactly lining up to battle him for the tables, so he probably got a pretty big share of all the random degens that just wanted to gamble.
