The first hand you are dealt when you sit down.

Recently I was at the casino and the first hand I was dealt was QsTs. It folded to me in LP and I raised, someone called in EP and I eventually lost the hand. So right from the start I had a first impression, table image of being loose. I like to build my table image as being tight-aggressive. I know that open folding that hand and/or similar hands is losing poker but would folding that hand, or similar hands on one of the first 5-10 hands of being at a table be okay to build a particular image? Premium hands such as, TT-AA, AKso, AQso, AJs, KQs, I would raise no question and not worry about my image. But small to middling pairs and suited connectors gappers and a few off suit broadways I am conflicted with about playing them in the first few hands dealt.

I would never pass on what I thought was an immediately +EV situation to project some image that may or may not be perceived by my opponents a certain way for some potential, but not necessarily guaranteed profit.

Did you lose a lot with the hand ? QTs can make straight flush or pair... if it s a strong hand there is a reason it is a strong hand.

First, a lot of players are paying no attention at all to your image unless you’re a maniac. Second, don’t worry about one hand. If you fold 10 of the next 11 or 18 of the next 21 or something, your image is going to change.
