NLH cash 6-max.

Hand 1:

Tight villain opens 3bb UTG, next fold, I wake up with AA at CO, reraise to 9bb, others fold, villain calls. Come qt9 rainbow, I bet 75% pot, he min raises, I shove, he show J9s. From my point of view, he could only have Ts because he is supposed to be tight. Even qt is a stretch but I guess Im wrong.

But I mean, should I fold? Is that just cost of business?

Hand 2:

Again tight villain opens UTG 2bb, then fold fold, I wake up with AKd on button, reraise to 7 bb. Vilain calls. Come 45d6h. I bet, villain shove, I call, he shows 4s. Ive only 25% chance of winning. Very bad.

But I mean, should I fold? Is that just cost of business?

This isn't the right forum for this.

And yes, you can just fold both hands on the flop.

Sorry for that. Is there a way to move the thread?

I guess the explanation for that is that villain is polarised, he either have a bluff or a strong hand.

So Ive thought about it and here is the best explanation I got.

Hand 1:

I represente AQ+. Villain doesnt rep a lot of AQ+. As for the bluffs, there is JT and AJ which when we look at the action isnt probable because 1) I have two As, and 2) that would be very aggressive bluffs tight villain doesnt do much.

Hand2:

Villain jam right away, so his range is super polarised. I also have the A of diamond and he is tight.

Thank you ZKesic for showing me the answer.

How many hands have you played with villain? Be wary of labeling people after just a few hands, and mostly, of making decisions based on that label. Opening J9 UTG isn't exactly tight.

I think it's worth noting that many TAG villains at the micros will call way too many hands facing a 3bet - this is a perfect example.

In the first hand, most villains will have all QQ/TT/88, and then some will have QTs/J9s. Min-raise is almost never a bluff, so pretty easy fold.

Fold the second hand as well. Villain has all sets and probably 87s, which you have none of. Villain's shove is massive (assuming 100bb effective) and is probably almost never a bluff also.

edit: J9s is a standard open UTG

J9s is profitable for me and should be for most regs, but micros seem to be pretty nitty with UTG opens and I'm sure a lot of others don't open it.

Unless you don't have a win rate or something, it should be a profitable open.

My win rate is fine, and I do open 9Js from UTG, just not to that size.

I don't think it's "standard" to open 9Js to 3x though, at least I don't see many people having it in their range.
