1) Doug Polk (Upswingpoker.com):
https://upswingpoker.com/ace-king-miss-flop/

- check if you have a gutshot/straight draw/flush draw
- bet (as a bluff) if all you have is 2 over cards on non-coordinated board

2) Jonathan Little (pokercoaching.com):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnlQC14m1VU

- Bet (as a semi-bluff) on draws
- Check if you just have over cards

Who is right?
Which advice to follow for someone who plays 1/3NL live?

If AKo has showdown value then I lean towards a check. There are times when AKo has enough equity to be considered a value bet. There are other times where you should simply bet everything or check everything.

Any strategy that involves "Always ____ AK" is guaranteed to be wrong. Think about all the ranges and how they compare to the board, think about SPR, and make a decision based on context.

It's situational but if you play mostly 1/3 live I'm guessing you're not even going to be involved in that many heads up single raised pots which is what both the upswing article as well as the video (I only watched first couple mins) are focusing on. I mean that's kinda what it seems like he's talking about to me, the upswing article is so vague it doesn't even really specify or include positions.

For example in a certain situation (3 bet pot EP vs EP) I may cbet AKo 100% of the time on a 653r flop because it's a board I'm cbetting very frequently (since it doesn't hit my opponent's range), in others (single raised BTN vs BB) I may check back because AK high can be good, and it's not a board I cbet often

personally I have seen a lot of Doug's content and not much of Jonathan's, I imagine you can't really go wrong listening Jonathan but I can DEFINITELY vouch that you can't go wrong with Doug.

I think Doug's video is aimed more at beginner-intermediate players.

I’d think it might also depend on the type of game you’re in. If you’re multi-way in most live 1/3 games, you’re probably not getting a lot of folds by c-betting AK. I’d check back a lot IP and float quite a bit OP with a combo like AK. You make your money with AK on flops you hit — if you’re up against a lot of calling stations you normally get paid. When you miss, they often have you beat. Don’t get too married to AK in loose passive games, like most 1/3 live games are. You may have to fold AK more than you’d like at such tables.
