If you want a more general understanding of game theory , then you may want pick out a micro-economics textbook from your local library for starters where you'll usually find a chapter devoted to game theory .

If you are looking at a book that talk about _poker_ game theory then try "The Theory of Poker" by Sklansky.

Obv. answer: Mathematics of Poker

For me this is a very difficult book, which will take me a while to completely understand.

It's only one chapter, so I wouldn't consider it a wealth of knowledge on game theory. Although it is a great overall book for beginners.

I took a game theory course in college. The books we used were:

Game Theory: A Nontechnical Introduction by Morton D. Davis, Dover Publications 0-486-29672-5

The Strategy of Conflict by Thomas C. Schelling, Harvard Publishing, 0-674-84031-3

The first one is pretty simple and straightforward and it goes through all the basics (zero sum games, utility theory, non zero sum games [for 2 players and n players]). Good luck.

Game theory is a branch of mathematics which, while it can be applied to poker and other casino "entertainment", actually has very little to do with what most people consider games. The mathematics books mentioned previously would serve as a good start.

Check out http://www.gametheory.net/lectures/level.pl .

There is at least 60 links to various Game Theory courses taught across the globe; any level -- from undergrad to PhD. Most of the lectures have economics, comp sci or political science as the main focus, though.

If the material itself is not sufficient for your needs, the majority of the sites lists the textbooks that are used in eac hrespective class, too.
