Why is position more important in Omaha than NLHE? Why is position more important in Omaha than NLHE?

I read somewhere that position is much more important in Omaha than in NLHE? I am curious to hear thoughts on why this is so. Thanks.

people play their hands much more straight forward in PLO than in NLHE. Therefore, if an opponent checks to you it usually means they don't have a great deal

Have played like 50 hands of omaha but i know one reason is the starting hands are closer in value preflop in omaha than the are in NL.

In PLO8 I want position - I fold quite liberally from UTG and call quite liberally from last position. In headsup pots it's very easy to steal post-flop against weak players, if you're OOP with a hand that doesn't flop hard, then you're going to have to check-fold almost all the time.

I thought you'd be moving this thread since it's about NLHE/PLO and not poker in general.

People seem to misunderstand my position daily. I don't have anything against NLHE. This post is an example of something more theoretical about NLHE or PLO. The posts I object to are ones that pretty much immediately dissolve into "what's the best way to play KQo from the small blind when a loose raiser completes from the CO"

If you can't see why the post here is different from my example, then it probably all seems kind of arbitrary but to me the line is generally pretty clear. I would have similar objections if someone posted a stud high questions like "so a LAG player raises from 3rd position with xxA and I have Q2Q, should I fold, call or raise?". These are practical, not theoretical, issues.

Anything that involves talking about an optimal line for a particular situation in a particular game, is probably not really "theory".

Edit: PS the main reason I give a damn is that most practical questions about NLHE are going to get FAR better answers in the right forum than here. No offense to the NLHE skills of regular PT posters, but the more focused a forum is on a particular issue, the more focused answers you'll get.

I never thought that you had anything against NLHE. I just thought that you wanted the discussions here to be about poker in general. Actually, after I posted but before I saw your response I realized that you might just want the posts to be of a theoretical nature, even if they're specific to a particular game.

because you're going to be in a lot more tough spots where value is thin and having last action gives you a big advantage
