why do we defend these hands otr? why do we defend these hands otr?

Hello,

so I've been playing with LucidGTO a lil bit and this hand looks quite interesting.

It's a 14 bb HU limped pot.

First of all we are supposed to 3 barrel very aggro, which is quite surprising to me. Even ott we are supposed to check just 33 % of our hands.

And then, OOP should defend quite a bunch of diamond hands, like: K9 (100 %), Q9 (100 %), Q7 (100 %), J9 (100%), T9 (100 %), 96 (100 %), 63 (85 %), 73 (100 %),

I was always thinking, that we should fold hands, that block villain's bluff combos. But here we are supposed to call with almost all suited diamonds. Is it because we don't have better hands to defend here? Or why is that? I am not really sure, that I understand.

73 and 63 are marginal calls, but all of other diamonds are making a lot of chips otr.

Thank you for your input in advance

IP is betting 7x for value, so any 9x/good 7x is a snap call just for beating value. Weak 7x which don't beat value block IP's 7x value bets making bluffs more likely. I don't think any of this has to do with diamonds.

Ya, having top pair is a lot more important than diamonds

1. As it has been said, if you beat value you have a +EV call.
2. Villain doesn't necessarily bluff river with 2 diamond hands more often than no diamonds or 1 diamond. In fact, he would probably rather bluff without diamonds.
3. When ranges are this wide and all over the place, blockers are worth very little, since villain is going to be betting for value a lot of hands that have just about any kicker of any suit along with them and has bluffs of all kinds
4. Not sure but on this SPR it would make sense to put a lot of 2 diamond hands on lines other than bet bet bet
