Hey all,
I played a hand recently that I then studied in GTO Wizard and I have a few questions so I can understand better turn play.
100BB eff., Hero on the BTN vs. BB
Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Q
T
fold,
fold,
fold,
Hero raises to 2.5 BB,
fold, BB calls 1.1 BB
Flop: (5 BB, 2 players) Q
8
T
BB checks,
Hero bets 1.7BB,
BB calls
Turn: (8.4 BB, 2 players) Q
8
T
A
BB checks,
Hero bets 6BB,
BB calls
I questioned the size of my turn bet, but thought it was mostly a bet for sure. But when I analyze the hand in GTO Wizard I noticed:
- the solver checks a lot with all but the strongest of 2-pair
- the solver bets top pair with double the frequency of 2-pair
I'd like to understand why this is the case. I believe I should check middling hands (wrt to opponent's range). I understand checking some stronger hands on the turn to protect the river range. And I think I can understand betting some hands that block the opponent's nuts because we should get raised less - could this be some of the bets with TP?
But I'm confused here on why there are so many more bets with TP, because its lower in my range wrt equity. Would like to understand the theory here, thx.
Edit: screenshot below shows CO but I was on the BTN. Don't have a sub so can't reload hah.
